You already know that physical activity is invaluable for young children, and that’s why parents enroll their toddlers in sports classes. But what about dancing?

Is dancing equally beneficial for toddler development as traditional sports?

Well, it seems that not only is it equally beneficial, but it could be more so if you take into account the numerous emotional advantages it offers.

More specifically, dance improves the child’s overall balance and spatial awareness, while it enhances agility, coordination, and flexibility. At the same time, it increases physical confidence, improves mental dexterity, and it enhances social skills.

But, what is the best age for a toddler to start dance classes?

Dancer, mother, and kindergarten teacher, Debbie Morris, says the best age is three. This is because, by that age, most children are toilet trained, while they are also more likely to cooperate with their teachers and other pupils because most of them have started going to daycare or preschool.

Given all the above, we can safely say that dance classes should be something parents consider when discussing possible activities for their toddlers.

Just like Roxy’s parents did when she was a toddler.

Roxy Brennan, a 7-year-old schoolgirl, is passionate about dance and it shows.

The sweet little girl is also a face model, but what she loves the most is to give it all on stage, dancing to her favorite jazz tracks.

She is a competition dancer, who has been awarded the Petite Miss Dance America prize, and has been participating in nationwide dance competitions for quite some time.

Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, she has had to stop competing over the last few months, but she recently returned to the stage that she loves so much.

“My face when I finally get to be back up on stage after almost a year!,” she writes in an Instagram post. “Although it will be covered by a mask, trust me you will still see this girls joy! She is SO EXCITED!”

One of the last performances before competitions were suspended, was in the KAR National Dance Competition last April.

In the video below, we can watch her performance and admire the little girl’s talent.

At the beginning of the video, we can see Roxy entering the stage with incredible confidence and grace.

She finds the perfect spot and she’s ready to give her best self in her performance. A few moments later, the song starts and she turns into a totally different person. She’s not a cute little girl anymore, but a professional dancer who knows exactly what she’s doing.

She feels the rhythm and she doesn’t miss a step. Her movements are flawless, it is obvious that she has been training hard and that she has practiced the choreography over and over again to achieve this exemplary performance.

Apart from Roxy’s movements, one can’t ignore the girl’s face that is completely feeling the music. She could easily be an actress! Her expression says it all and it totally adds to the whole performance.

The 6-year-old girl at the time won second place at KAR Baltimore 2020 and she hasn’t stopped training since then, although she hadn’t had the chance to perform on a stage due to the pandemic until recently, when she performed again and won first place in the secondary category and Miss Petite Dance Kar.
