Dancing is an art— some of us are naturals, while others… Well, not so much. No matter if you can drop moves like Jackson or if you prefer to dance when no one’s around, moving one’s body to music is something that we, as humans, develop very early on.
In 2010, researchers from the University of Jyvaskyla in Finland decided to test babies’ disposition to dancing, going so far as to recruit professional ballet dancers to determine how well that baby’s movements matched the song. Babies were placed on a parent’s lap while they listened; to make sure that parents didn’t subconsciously move their bodies and influence the babies, each parent was made to wear noise-canceling headphones while the experiment was being conducted. Finally, the babies’ actions were recorded. Psychologist Marcel Zentner said, “Our research suggests that it is the beat rather than other features of the music, such as the melody, that produces the response in infants.”
And if researchers are right about beat motivating us to move, this little girl must be feeling it with her soul!
In this video, posted to the Позитив на 5+ Facebook page, you see a little girl strutting her stuff and making her star power shine!
Decked out in a long-sleeved pink shirt, a puffy pink tutu, and spotless white tights, this little girl proves that she didn’t come to play around— she is here to DANCE. By the looks of things, she may be the youngest one in her class. But this just goes to prove that you don’t need much training when you were clearly born to dance!
The video is roughly a minute long and showcases, what appears to be, the class warm up. First, you see the girls rolling their shoulders. Then, they start rotating their hips. Whatever move they’re doing though, this little girl takes it that much farther, adding little steps and twists that make her truly stand out from the crowd!
The girl in white does not look impressed by the little one stealing her shine. But you can’t blame the toddler— it’s hard to blend in when you ooze natural dancing talent, I guess (For clarification, I personally wouldn’t know).
Full of confidence, pizzazz, and spunk, I salute this girl for owning her passion and letting herself shine!
Never change, little one. Please, never change.
