Stepping onto the stage of Britain’s Got Talent can be a daunting experience.

Now, imagine choosing to perform one of Broadway’s most challenging songs.

That’s precisely the bold move made by 12-year-old Beau Dermott, who not only wowed the audience but also won Judge Amanda Holden’s coveted Golden Buzzer.

The song “Defying Gravity” was popularized by Idina Menzel, a renowned actress and singer celebrated for her powerful vocal prowess.

Menzel has delivered remarkable performances in several challenging roles, including Maureen in Rent, Elphaba in Wicked, and most notably, Queen Elsa in Frozen.

Her voice, recognizable across all ages and genres, is the one behind the ubiquitous song “Let It Go.”

So, when a 12-year-old claims she can sing it, it’s bound to raise a few eyebrows.

However, the judges and the audience were in for a surprise.

As soon as Beau began singing, it was evident that she was not an ordinary performer.

Her voice, powerful and mature beyond her years, left everyone in awe.

It was hard to believe that such a voice could emanate from a young girl.

The judges and audience were visibly moved by her talent, with even the usually stoic Cowell grinning from ear to ear.

Holden rushed onto the stage to embrace Beau, exclaiming, “You were so, so, so amazing. Really, really, really, I’m so excited for you. You’re gonna be brilliant.”

Simon Cowell was equally impressed.

He stated, “I was not expecting that. It’s not the fact that you’re 12 and have an incredible voice; it’s the fact that you’ve got an incredible voice.”

The Golden Buzzer, a feature of Britain’s Got Talent since Series 8, allows each judge to send a performer directly to the live semi-finals, bypassing the need for approval from the other judges.

It’s a privilege that must be used wisely, as it can make or break both the judge and the performer.

Other Golden Buzzer acts on Britain’s Got Talent include Calum Scott, Toju, and Paddy and Nico.

Amanda had no regrets using her one chance to hit that golden buzzer.

It’s such a difficult song to sing and she nails it, see below!
