In the world of talent shows, it doesn’t take long for a judge to recognize a star.
This was the case with eight-year-old Angelico “Echo” Claridad, a small boy with a voice that could stir souls.
His blind audition on The Voice Kids has captivated audiences worldwide, amassing over 40 million views.
Echo, hailing from the City of Bacolod in the Philippines, knew the importance of standing out in reality shows like The Voice.
He understood that to captivate the judges and the audience, he needed to deliver a performance that was both unique and heartfelt.
As he took center stage, the judges had no inkling of the extraordinary performance that was about to unfold.
As Echo began to sing, musician Lea Salonga was immediately taken aback, exclaiming, “whoa, hello” from her seat.
It was clear that she was captivated by what she was hearing.
After Echo sang the first few lines, there was no doubt about his exceptional talent.
Salonga hit her red button without hesitation, and fellow artist, Sarah Geronimo, quickly followed suit.
The judges were then introduced to the young talent behind the voice.
As Salonga continued to listen to Echo’s melodious voice, she couldn’t help but express her admiration, “Oh, I love you already!”
With two coaches turning their chairs, Echo had already secured his place in the next round.
But would he be able to get the last judge to turn as well?
Echo then delivered a spine-tingling rendition of “Too Much Heaven,” a 1978 hit by the Bee Gees.
As Echo sang, it was hard not to be moved.
His voice carried the emotion and depth of the song, creating a performance that was both touching and powerful.
Echo’s musical prowess continued to shine as he sang.
At one point, he hit a high note so beautifully that the last coach, Bamboo Manalac, could no longer resist and hit his button too.
Echo had managed to impress the entire panel, a feat not often achieved.
In the end, Echo had the privilege of choosing his coach, and he chose Lea Salonga.
Echo’s performance was not only a hit with the judges but also with the audience.
