Just because you’re a kid doesn’t mean you can’t completely rock “The Git Up Challenge!” Numerous participants have recorded themselves following the dance routine, but one youngster named Jackson managed to go viral with his at-home video.
Whether you’re unfamiliar with the challenge or you’ve watched dozens online, Jackson’s performance is sure to have you grinning from ear to ear. Now, who’s ready for some “cowboy boogie?”
2019 will be remembered for a lot of things. For those who follow trends, The Git Up Challenge is definitely one of them.
After musical artist, Blanco Brown released his country-rap track “The Git Up,” the challenge soon followed. People from all walks of life were filming themselves doing the line dancing moves, which were choreographed by Brown himself.
There have been many unforgettable performances too. One man hilariously danced solo wearing his wife’s shorts, while a group of cops showed off their “Git Up” skills at a school assembly. The list is quite long and varied, to say the least!
Along with the song being catchy, the routine is too. The 34-year-old musician has even created videos to help people learn all the steps.
While teaching Ellie Lee from iHeartRadio how to do the routine, Brown explained the dance’s background. He said:
“I started with the track, and then I felt like it had a lot of joy and happiness in it. And I said, ‘People will love to dance to this.’ So when I started doing the dance step by step, I said, ‘It’s fun. It’s a lot of workout, but it’s fun.'”

Like others, Jackson decided to show off his amazing “Git Up” skills and create a video for the challenge.
The kid’s all dressed up in his best cowboy gear for his performance that takes place in front of the family’s fireplace. It’s the perfect outfit choice for a song with country lyrics like, “do the two-step” and “grab your sweetheart.”
After Brown’s speaking intro, Jackson bursts into action with his “Git Up” moves. What’s the best is that he’s really good!
It’s a video that’s been viewed more than 924,000 times on YouTube since it was uploaded. You gotta admit, that’s mighty impressive for a boy’s living room dance.
The youngster follows Brown’s routine with rhythm and soul, all while wearing his cowboy hat and glasses.
He even cutely mouths out the words when the singer says,
“This next part’s my favorite part, uh, cause it’s time to shine.”
Jackson’s participated in other internet challenges as well and uploaded the videos to YouTube. His “Git Up” performance, however, is the only one to explode online.
The “About” section on Jackson’s Facebook page provides a brief background on him. It says:
“In February 2013, Jackson suffered a freak accident. Ever since, God has been blessing him in ways that can only be explained by photos! Here’s the real life fun & adventures of #therealjacksonsmoak!”
By looking through his photos, it’s apparent he’s done some incredible things in his life so far.
You gotta hand it to anyone with the courage to take on the challenge and put themselves out there. But it’s a good thing that Jackson did – because people are loving his submission.
A woman named Denise wrote:
“You did so good Jackson !!!! You nailed the challenge and you did it with a lot of swag! “You go boy” ! Perfect !!!”
Rachel commented:
“Okay I found my new favorite!!!! This kid right here named Jackson is amazingly awesome!!!!! He’s going to be a star someday!!!! Great job Jackson!!!! You are one sweet dancer!! I think mom has the next Patrick Swayze on her hands!!!!!”
