When you think of line dancing and country music, most minds go straight to the USA. If Keith Urban, a native Australian, is any hint though, country music is not only for Americans. Line dancing and country music has reached all around the world.
Italy has a yearly festival called Voghera Country Festival which is dedicated to country music and line dancing!
The Voghera Country Festival started in 2000 as a smaller event but has grown ever year. The Voghera Country Festival states its weekend as,
“the right mix of dance and country music that combines the pleasure of listening to internationally renowned American artists to the pleasure of dance the country Line Dance, the Two Step, West Coast Swing, and the Catalan Style confronting the other European countries with dance competitions where, however, the last goal is to have fun.”
Many line dancing groups travel to the Voghera Country Festival to take part in the festivities. One of those groups is Wild Country. Six members of Wild Country performed the Fast as a Shark line dance. This is an advanced Catalan Style line dance.
Wild Country has performed at the festival more than eight years in a row, so the crowd gathered for this festival favorite!
Wild Country performed to the song “Money Can’t Buy Love,” sung by the Kyle Bennet Band. The line dance was choreographed by Adriano Castagnoli. Wild Country wore matching cowboy hats and red country western shirts. This group made sure to dress the part for their dance.
The Fast as a Shark line dance takes off fast from the very beginning, it does not say fast in the title for no reason!
It is quick footwork for this line dance and Wild Country is showing off how fast they can move. They had to prepare their fast footwork and be able to turn quickly too! These professionals are not getting dizzy in all those turns, but watching them can sure make you feel dizzy.
Wild Country members have big smiles on their faces and their fingers holding their belt loops, the advanced steps are not even making them sweat.
The line dance takes a unique turn near the end by having the front three dancers dance on their own and the back three members watch intently. Then its time to switch and the back three dancers start to dance with their audience of the three front members.
Then they all jump back in and this is when they show off! The pace speeds up even faster and they are dancing at lightning speed!
Wild Country has gathered a large crowd that cannot keep their eyes off the quick line dancers. The crowd is as impressed as the viewers at home! When the song ends Wild Country is happy with their performance.
Wild Country all have big smiles and start to congratulate each other before leaving the stage!
The choreographer of the line dance, Adriano Castagnoli, uploaded the dance and it has been viewed more than 5 million times! The viewers love the dance and some have commented,
“This is one of the best cowboy dance I’ve ever seen!”
“Beautiful dance and song!!! I love country music <3”
“Unbelievable how fast they move! … and even if I practiced for a hundred years, I wouldn’t be able to dance this one!”
