No matter what the competition is, there’s always the pressure to perform.

Even so, that does not mean that the process of competing isn’t fun.

Without a doubt, you never get bored watching “Lindy Hop” performances.

Lindy Hop is an American dance style fused with several elements derived from several African-American dances.

Its popularity rose in the late 1930s when swing first came out. This is a partnered dance accompanied by lively swing and jazz music.

The dancers then execute intricate footwork routines coupled with graceful arm movements.

Today, Lindy Hop is considered a social dance that sometimes gets taken to the stage for professional competitions. Here is one of the past Lindy Hop competitions that might pique your interest.

In the competition, the chosen dancers compete for the number one spot in the Lindy Hop strictly.

Thirteen couples from all around the world competed in the 2013 Invitational Lindy Hop Strictly finals held at Washington DC.

The contestants were each given ample time to show off their dance routines as the music played in the background.

The show then goes on for several rounds before deciding who among them is suited at the topmost spot.

As the clip begins, the dancers started to entertain the crowd with their awesome dance moves.

The battle is on as the first couple, Thomas Blacharz and Alice Mei, steps forward to give their 40-second performance.

The couple showed off their one-legged hops as they went all around the stage to make the crowd go wild.

The moment the couple gracefully exited the stage, Sky Humphries and Frida Segerdahl replaced them as they went all out with their hops, skips and kicks.

Pontus Perrson and Isabella Gregorio then kicked off their performance with a series of flips, finishing it with a beautiful backbend.

Mike Roberts took over the stage with his partner Laura Glaess and stunned the crowd with their dizzying spin routines.

Todd Yannacone and Ramona Staffeld joined the show later on by showing off a graceful Lindy Hop that was as smooth as butter.

The crowd cheered loudly when Dax Hock and Sarah Breck showed off their flashy footwork.

More contestants turned up the heat on the battlefield.

The dancefloor was already burning as Jeremy Otth and Laura Keat took the stage after the previous couple.

They executed several flips and ended their turn with a beautiful leg split. Remy Kouakou Kouame and Moe Sakan followed them and made people laugh with their comedic dance routine. Max Pitruzella kept the hype up with Annie Trudeau as their clean throws and flips beguiled the crowd.

Next were Nick Williams and Kelly Arsenault’s entertaining swings, which were soon followed by Peter Strom and Naomi Uyama’s lively dance routines.

Mikey Pedroza and Nikki Marvin then jumped in with nimble feet, ending with spins and twists in the last couple, Juan Villafane and Sharon Davis.

The show was not over as it went on for another round.

The couples rotated once again for another quick performance in the second round.

Their improvised routines were getting better and better as they were given slightly less time than the first round. After they finished, the couples reassembled in front and broke out a few seconds later for a final free-for-all dance.

The pressure was on for these couples as they danced for the showdown for the International Lindy Hop Championship of 2013!

Still, they never failed to keep up the fun and thrills as they danced their hearts out on the stage.
