One of the best things about the internet is that it has leveled the playing field in so many different areas.
When it comes to movies and television, YouTube and other platforms have given amateur creators a way to share all their best ideas with the world for a fraction of the cost of a major budget production.
The same is true of music, and there are countless examples. As perhaps one of the best examples in recent years, consider one artist who broke out this year with one of the year’s biggest songs.
That artist, of course, is Lil Nas X of “Old Town Road” fame.
For anyone who has younger children or relatives around them, there’s no doubt that they’ve heard this country-rap hybrid.
Because of the buzz he was able to build on the internet, Lil Nas X became a huge star seemingly overnight—and he even released a full-length album with several other hits on it as well.
Still, because he came from the world his young fans still live in so recently, he’s still dedicated to paying it back to them as well.
And for evidence of that, just consider this adorable video that he made to show them.
The clip in question was posted in May 2019.
As it begins, Lil Nas X speaks to the cameraman about what’s going on. In the beginning, he says he’s about to do the biggest show of his life… but it’s pretty clear he’s in an elementary school.
After a moment, he walks out of his backroom and into a school assembly at Lander Elementary—and all the little kids lose their minds immediately!
All he can do is stand on stage smiling, but the kids can’t believe their eyes—some of them are even crying.
Although it takes a minute, he finally manages to get the crowd to quiet down.
A moment later, he addresses all the kids once again… but it’s nearly impossible to hear him because they’re cheering so loudly.
After a moment, he tells the sound crew to turn the speakers up somewhat and gets ready to set into his hit song—and the whole crowd falls silent for a moment. As he finally hears the music playing, he asks the crowd to join in.
Although any big concert can have really high energy, these kids are on an entirely different level.
The whole crowd is jumping up and down and screaming the lyrics as loud as they can.
By the time the beat comes in, the whole crowd is a little bit off but it doesn’t matter—everyone is having so much fun!
When it’s all over, the whole crowd cheers for him once again and he even throws all kinds of stuffed animals and souvenirs into the crowd as well. Since the clip was posted, it has been viewed some five million times… and it’s easy to see why.
Needless to say, the kids absolutely love him!
Even for those who aren’t personally a fan of his music, there’s something heartwarming about this clip.
Although there are all kinds of surprise performance videos on the internet, it’s rare that one of the biggest stars in the world takes time out of his busy schedule to do a surprise concert for an elementary school.
If this had ever happened to us as a kid, there’s no way we’d ever forget it. We’re guessing these kids won’t either.
