Simon Cowell was terrified of both the dark and the light.
David Walliams, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, and the audience are all used to singers, dancers, and a few odd acts on Britain’s Got Talent. But nothing of the supernatural sort.
Until a witch made an explosive entrance.
The witch looks like something out of a Disney film, looking like Snow White’s evil stepmum in full creepy mode as she kept repeating,
“Between the dark and the light, good and evil, which will you choose?”
The disturbing hag hobbles down to the area of the judges, with Simon wide eyed obviously wishing she wasn’t coming so close. But it was the judges’ table where the witch would perform.
Whoever it was under, good job with the extensive prosthetic makeup.
Now, Simon and the judges have faced every imaginable character. And they have never been intimidated or terrified. Until now.
David is asked to take an apple and bite into it. He does, very bravely, which seemed to disappoint the old witch. Brave man, Walliams.
Alesha is asked to do the same, and she is understandably shaking. But she is a strong lady so she takes one out of that dirty looking sack. She bites into an apple herself.
This witch seemed to have a special interest in Simon, giving him an evil eye every so often.
The witch turns to the lovely Amanda Holden to whom she places an apple in each of her hands, asking Simon to choose left or right. “Right,” responds Cowell.
So Amanda now had to take a bite from the apple in her right hand.
Everyone looked on eagerly. That weird combination of curiosity and fascination for the macabre gripping onlookers was unmistakable.
“Amanda, you know why they say beauty’s only skin deep? We’re all rotten to core!” says the cackling Witch.
Now for the most disturbing part.
A hand emerges from deep within the Witch’s robe, grabbing the unbitten apple then crushing it. That caused an assortment of live worms and insects to spill out all over the desk
Horrified, the judges look on as the witch returns to the stage, cackling before vanishing into thin air.
At this point, Alesha has gotten up, moving to the side of the stage in disgust over the creepy crawlers on the table. Simon, meanwhile, has taken over proceedings as he called for a vote.
“Okay, well, that was horrific,” says Cowell. “And the Witch has turned into a cockroach.”
So Simon addresses the cockroach on the table, as if it was the witch. It could very well be the old hag.
Perhaps there’s something about an act that’s gone away from the usual performances they’re used to. The witch gets a YES from all four stunned judges considering they were pretty much disturbed.
Who is the witch? Where’s she from? What was her agenda here?
