Is Hugh Jackman watching The Voice this season?
If not, he needs to see this video ASAP. Kyla Jade sang the theme song for The Greatest Showman and seriously killed it.
No offense to Keala Settle, who was excellent in the film about P.T. Barnum creating the circus, but honestly, Kyla totally made this song hers.
If you’ve never heard the song “This Is Me” before, you need to understand that the song is about accepting yourself and loving yourself as you are.
In The Greatest Showman, a woman, dubbed “the bearded lady” by P.T. Barnum sings the song after the showman was embarrassed to be seen with her.
Obviously, people in 2018 can’t exactly relate to that exact circumstance, but the general consensus of the song is very relatable and the movie was marketed using that song. It is safe to say it is the best song from the musical film.
The lyrics really speak to people:

I’m gonna send a flood, gonna drown them out
I am brave, I am bruised

Kyla sang the song beautifully and was overcome with emotions while she sang. Toward the end of the song, she started to cry (and so did I while watching her).
Alicia Keys was moved by her performance and told Kyla that she hoped whatever or whoever made her feel this way, was “garbage” and that she was above it all.
This performance was Kyla’s way to seal her spot on the show, as she already made it to the Top 10 on The Voice. After this performance, Blake Shelton was right, there was no way she wouldn’t make it forward.
So, thank goodness, Kyla sealed her spot in the competition and is in the Top 8.

In her Blind Audition, Kyla channeled the legendary Aretha Franklin and sang “See Saw” for the coaches.
Just a minute into her audition, Blake turned around because he wanted Kyla on his team. Right after Blake turned, Kelly was fast on his heel to turn around just before Kyle finished singing.
Blake pleaded his case on why Kyla should join his team.
“I want you, on my team, so bad.”
He then asked what she was doing in Nashville, which is how the coaches found out that Kyla’s job is singing backup for Jennifer Hudson.
Maybe working for a former American Idol competitor. Maybe Kyla will go even farther than Jennifer did on AI!
What do you think of Kyla’s voice? I think she is incredibly talented. I was in tears watching this performance.
