You never know when your life is going to take a big turn or where that turn will lead you. Oftentimes, if you follow your passions, you’ll end up in extraordinary places.
For Kseniya Simonova, that’s exactly what happened.
Kseniya is an artist and mother from Ukraine. She’s always been a naturally creative person, but it wasn’t until she discovered sand as a medium that she really blossomed as an artist.
If you have never seen sand art before, you’re going to be absolutely blown away when you see what this incredibly gifted woman does with just her hands, some light, some sand, and her imagination.
Her journey to America’s Got Talent stage was a surprising and winding one, but it’s been a real adventure for Kseniya and her family.
She first appeared on the Ukraine’s Got Talent stage years ago… and won. The changes that this brought to her life allowed her and her family to purchase a new home and improve their quality of life. Her art also caused quite a splash online and brought some attention to her home country.
This audition marks her first time in America, and the pressure is certainly on to prove herself and to put in a good name for her home country, a place she believes is a wonderful place for art and culture. She only has one chance to win the hearts of the audience and the judges.
When she steps up to the giant sandbox, the room is intrigued. The judges look on with anticipation.
The story that Kseniya paints with just sand and her hands is one that really cuts through to the soul. It’s the story of an artist that forgets his parents. By the time he cares to remember them, it’s too late.
The way that Kseniya transitions from one image to the next is seamless. They gracefully morph into one another like a movie. She’s also able to get so much detail and emotion into the characters’ faces with just the swipe of a hand.
Can you remember the last time you tried to do so much as build a simple sandcastle? It’s not as easy as it looks. To create not just a piece of art, but a story that can make you feel so emotional seems impossible.
Yet, the audience, the judges, and host Terry Crews are all absolutely blown away by the end of this performance. None of them have ever seen anything like it before!
Good luck keeping the tears back!
The look of pride and gratefulness on Kseniya’s face is so heartwarming. Coming from a small town in Ukraine all the way to the America’s Got Talent stage is something she never imagined as a small child.
After the judge’s praise, Terry comes out from behind the stage to give her the biggest compliment she could possibly ask for on this show.
When the gold confetti falls down upon her, you can’t help but become overwhelmed with happiness for her.
What did you think of this strange but lovely performance?
