It’s common for individuals and vocal groups to perform songs that celebrities made famous. Usually, they’re pretty good but compared to the original artist, they fall short. But in one video, which now has more than 2.5 views, three guys proved this isn’t always the case.
Meghan Trainer
Most everyone has heard of the artist Meghan Trainer. After all, she’s had multiple hits and received several coveted awards for her vocal talent. One of her songs, “All About That Bass,” was a huge success following its release in 2014.
“All About That Bass”
A lot of people know this song but have no clue what it’s about. Well, Meghan wrote it about the struggles she faced as a teenager. At that time, she had a poor body image, and to promote self-acceptance, she wrote and recorded this great pop song.
Following her lead
As you know, “All About That Bass” was written and sung by a female. So, you might expect others that perform it would be of the same gender. But a group of guys called the Koi Boys did their rendition and let’s just say it was beyond amazing.
Time in the recording studio
At the beginning of this now-viral video, you see three younger men, all casually dressed, standing inside of a recording studio. In all honesty, they don’t look like musicians nor do they act as though they’re taking the occasion seriously. But you know the saying, “don’t judge a book by its cover” … well, it applies here.
Starting to sing
The guy wearing the white tee shirt starts things off. Adopting more of a jazz genre, he uses his deep voice to repeat the lyrics, “all about the bass, the bass, the bass.” He sounds good but things are about to get much better.
Now the lead singer
While he’s keeping the beat going by singing the lyrics over and over, along with snapping his fingers, the man in the brown shirt chimes in. Rocking his feet back and forth, you hear a beautiful voice. Just the two of them sound incredible.
Such a cool vibe
As the man in the brown shirt continues to sing, the music takes on an even bigger jazz tone. Along with his voice, you hear a snare drum, which makes this even better. But you’ll notice that the guy in the green shirt hasn’t shown off his talent … just yet.
Picking up the tempo
Not too far into the video, the Koi Boys pick up the tempo a little bit. This is when watching them becomes super fun. The guy in the green shirt in between the other two can’t stand still … he has to dance.
The harmony is perfection
Then, this becomes a trio of sheer talent. This is when these guys take the song to an entirely new level of perfection. On their own, they each have wonderful voices but together, the harmony is out of this world.
Personality and talent combined
Not only are these guys super talented but they’re also funny. Throughout the recording of “All About That Bass,” they have a blast. Overall, we feel confident in saying that Meghan Trainer would be proud of this rendition of her popular song.
