As anyone who’s been watching this season of America’s Got Talent knows, this year has shown the world some incredible contestants.
Among them are Benicio Bryant, the 14-year-old singer who has proved that he has an incredible voice. There’s also Chris Kläfford, the incredible Swedish singer from a small town.
Still, of all these finalists, one of the best was early crowd favorite Kodi Lee. For anyone who missed his initial audition, Lee is an autistic performer who stunned the whole world with his initial audition covering “A Song For You” by Donny Hathaway.
Still, as audiences found out, Lee was still saving some of the best for last.
After making it through to the semifinals, it was time for Lee to perform another incredible song.
Though all of his performances up to that point had been great, the one he chose for that round was “You Are The Reason” by Calum Scott, a singer and artist who actually made his own debut on Britain’s Got Talent in 2015.
From the very beginning, Lee’s piano playing is so gentle and delicate. From the very beginning, his voice is so beautiful and his piano skills are perfectly controlled.
Before long, the entire crowd is swaying along with their cell phones in the air!
Though the original song is definitely difficult to sing, Lee manages to do it without any problems.
As the song continues, his voice hits some incredibly high registers and his piano line never wavers either. No matter how tricky the song gets, Lee is completely up to the challenge—and he has the audience in the palm of his hand the entire time.
While all of his performances were so memorable, this one gets such a warm reaction from the entire crowd. As he draws to a close, he plays a the last few notes and stops.
When it’s over, the entire audience gets up on their feet to give him a standing ovation!
The whole crowd starts chanting his name and the judges can’t stop smiling at him.
It would be time for the judges to give their feedback, but the crowd won’t stop cheering for him! When it’s finally over, judge Gabrielle Union is the first to speak.
With tears in her eyes, she tells him that everyone in the crowd is grateful to be a part of his journey and “in his orbit.” After that, judge Simon Cowell tells him that while his story is incredible, his talent and unique twist that he puts on songs is equally worth mentioning.
For him, Cowell says Lee is one of the most talented and unique contestants anyone has ever seen.
It’s clear that Lee’s performance is one that’s going to go down in America’s Got Talent history!
Though there are plenty of talented people on the show, few of them have the moving story that Lee does—and few of them can consistently leave the judges in tears!
Needless to say, Lee is one of the contestants that shows like this were made for. We just hope we keep seeing more of him in the future!
