If you’ve been watching America’s Got Talent this season, you know just how talented some of the contestants are.
Though every season of the show has its own front-runners and standouts, it seemed like this season had an unusually strong batch. In the finale that recently aired, contestants like young opera singer Emanne Beasha and the Detroit Youth Choir all represented different acts and different approaches to the show’s challenges.
Still, there was one audience favorite all season who gave yet another stunning performance in the final round.
That performer was a young singer and pianist Kodi Lee.
For those who haven’t been watching, Lee has been blowing audiences away from the very beginning.
His audition was in May 2019 and his mom walked him out onstage. As he introduced himself, his mom explained that Lee was blind and autistic, but that he was so talented at performing music—and that it calmed and soothed him.
When the introduction was over, he explained that he’d be performing “A Song For You” for the audience. Although nobody was sure what to expect, Lee had one of the most amazing performances that America’s Got Talent had ever seen!
Since then, the video earned itself some 47 million views.

Needless to say, Lee’s talents advanced him all the way to the final rounds.
One of the best things about the show, however, is that each subsequent round adds a few extra ingredients to the performances. In the finale, the contestants sometimes perform with other famous singers to heighten or highlight their own talents.
For Lee, he got to perform alongside Leona Lewis, a British singer-songwriter who made her mark on the pop world with her song “Bleeding Love,” among others.
In his last performance on the show, Lee decided to sing “You Are The Reason” by Calum Scott.
From the very start, Lee’s familiar musical confidence shines through.
Lee’s singing and piano-playing are so smooth and soulful, and Lewis’s vocals provide the perfect complement. One of the best things about Lee’s performance is that he takes instantly recognizable songs and makes them his own.
Lewis and Lee have a great chemistry on stage, and Lewis makes sure that her own voice is only there in support of Lee’s. As the camera cuts to the judges, all of them are nodding their heads.
Everyone in the audience is clear that they’re watching something very special.
Towards the end of the performance, Lee and Lewis’s voices soar higher and higher to finish the song on a strong note.
For the last part, they slow everything down and sing the last few lyrics from a heartfelt place. When it’s all over, they take a bow and the entire audience gets on their feet for a standing ovation! Though there were plenty of strong performances on the show, it was ultimately Lee who won the entire season and got the grand prize!
Although there are plenty of talented people on shows like America’s Got Talent, something about Lee’s talent and his story combined have made him an unforgettable contestant this season.
