Her challenges have been conquered.
After battling all of the aforementioned and coming out the victor, she lived the last 6 years of her life on her own terms.
She died at her home in Switzerland on May 28, 2023.
Of course, fans are paying tribute in a multitude of ways, but did you know that even the newly crowned King Charles III honored the late Queen of Rock and Roll?
It took place during the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace.
So, what did they play in tribute?
The Band of the Welsh Guards played “The Best”.
It’s one of Turner’s hit songs, during the ceremony in London on Friday.
How familiar are you with the “Changing of the Guard” ceremony? It is when the King’s Guard hands over the responsibility of protecting Buckingham Palace and St. James’s Palace to the New Guard that will be assigned.
After settling in, they start playing their rendition of Tina Turner’s 1989 smash hit, “The Best.”
Everyone was quiet.
They were just listening to the beautiful melody of the song. For her fans, memories came flooding in, others were simply in awe with the band’s talent.
Some people couldn’t help but ask how they picked the song, and there was a deeper reason for that, aside from the fact that it was one of her hits.
The song, “The Best” has a special place in the hearts of the royals.
Prince William once appeared on the Time to Walk podcast in 2021, and there, he recalled the story behind the hit song.
His mom used to sing it to him.
The Prince recalled that his mother, Princess Diana, would often play this song for him and Prince Harry.
It was the song she used to pacify the two boys whenever they had anxiety attacks.
“When I was younger, Harry and I, we were at boarding school,” said Prince William. “And my mother used to play all sorts of songs to kind of wile away the anxiety of going back to school.
It was a lovely memory for the prince as he recalled his mother singing the upbeat song.
Now, he’s pacifying Tina’s fans with the same song.
Whenever he hears this song, he remembers the good old times that he shared with the late Princess.
Watching and listening to this tribute hits differently when you know how sentimental this song is for the royals and how Tina had touched so many lives.
Tina, is indeed, the best.
