Now, this has to be the most adorable thing I’ve seen in a while.

Right outside of Washington D.C., a class of kindergarteners is bringing a little rhythm and groove into their classroom by learning and performing different styles of Latin dance.

At only 5 years old, the group has learned diverse styles of Latin dance such as the Salsa, Bachata, Mambo, ChaCha, and even the Merengue. And their moves are quite impressive, with many crediting their teacher, Mr. Sorto for cultivating their love for the art of dance.

Along with being a teacher, Edwin Sorto is also an experienced Salsa dancer. Sorto strongly believes in a balanced, well-rounded curriculum and has emphasized the importance of incorporating dance in the classroom.

Dance instruction, including learning these routines and varied styles, not only provides physical activity for these children but also enhances their ability to listen and follow directions.

And, they definitely have all the right moves!

The class enjoys performing for others and in front of the camera. With Mr. Sorto stating,

They’re proud of what they do and love to see people’s reactions, comments, and likes on their videos. Their parents are also incredibly supportive. My kids are great, and this is just one more thing that keeps them engaged in school.”

After seeing their performances on the web, viewers were overjoyed and couldn’t get enough of these tiny dancers. And once you see their tempo for yourself, in the video below, I’m sure you’ll fall in love too.

Additionally, Mr. Sorto has also taught his class Spanish, and although these talented kindergarteners are only 5 years old, they are reading and speaking Spanish with confidence. Sorto comments, “Kids are naturals…They pick it up like sponges.”

Complimenting his unconventional curriculum of Latin dance and Spanish lessons, Mr. Sorto also ensures his students are up to par in their core classes of math, science, art, and the social sciences.

Edwin Sorto, like many other teachers, devotes so much of himself to teaching his students, demonstrating not only his belief in a balanced curriculum but also his understanding of the positive, influential impact exceptional teachers can have on a child’s life.

Mr. Sorto’s efforts, simultaneously, expose this adorable group of children to a broadened, alternative educational experience, while also placing a beautiful smile on these children’s faces.
