There are a lot of things we’d like to “let go” of right now, so while it was the ultimate earwig to parents a few years ago, “Let It Go” almost seems like an anthem for 2020.
Maybe that’s a small part of the reason we’re drawn to this video of the young ladies of the kindergarten class at Chaparral Elementary.
The recital took place at Agoura Hills.
But these 5 and 6-year-olds were all about the snowflakes as they danced and dazzled to the song from Disney’s blockbuster animated film Frozen.
As the lights came up, parents gasped with delight at the sight of the tiny princesses.
The video has now earned over 5 million views because it’s so darn adorable.
But it was also posted by a parent with a big following – Orna Purkin, a weight-loss influencer, baker, and author. Since she has subsequent dance videos from future years, it’s safe to guess one of the little snowflakes belongs to her.
There’s not much you can expect in terms of dance maneuvers from kids this young, but they certainly start off in unison.
But what really warmed our hearts was their singing!
Double threats! The little girls are belting out the words while dancing and they all look pretty darn happy to be dressed up and on stage.
We dare you not to smile while watching them.
It’s sad to imagine that one of the many things the pandemic had interrupted is music and dance training.
Those are talents that help the body and the mind!
Chaparral Elementary School puts on a variety show each year and Purkin herself helped direct the 1st grade girls’ performance of Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off’!
That too was a rousing performance.
But regardless of the talent in that performance, it never went viral like the Frozen video did.
Could the song be that much of a draw?
Or perhaps other dance teachers used it for inspiration when planning their own recitals?
When Purkin posted a short clip of the performance on her own Facebook page, it was implied that the little girl front and center was her daughter Aja and that mom had helped choreograph this performance as well.
Since she works as a vocal coach, she may have been in charge of the singing too!
It’s certainly that much cuter to hear to see the girls singing as well.
It sounds like dad Sam was videotaping things for posterity.
And not only was the performance a hit but they did it all after being displaced from their original venue by some major wildfire drama.

It sounds like everyone needed a break from the heat that June.
And these little girls were no doubt a respite from all the stress.
