When it comes to dancing styles, Latin has some of the most exciting and sultry. One dance called the Jive originated in the US. Historians claim it started in the early 1930s and came from African Americans. But it wasn’t until 1934 when Cab Calloway made it super popular.

It wasn’t long before the Jive made its way throughout the United States and Europe, becoming a big hit among the younger generation. At first, this dance style was known as the Lindy Hop or Jitterbug. Then at some point in the 1940s, everyone began calling it the “Jive.”

Two young kids show off their incredible skills dancing the Jive.

If you search the internet, you’ll find all kinds of dance videos. But most of them are of adults either dancing for fun or teaching others how to perfect their moves. But one video went viral for two reasons. First, it’s really good. Second, it features two young kids who know what they’re doing. There’s no question that these two know how to Jive.

Who says you can’t Jive to Country and Western music?

This young boy and girl perform at the famous Cowboys and Heroes festival that took place in 2015. In perfect rhythm to a country and western song, they swing, twirl, and cut a rug, as the saying goes. With every move, you’d swear they were professionals with many years of experience.

They make an excellent duo.

Along with all their fun moves, these kids are decked out in their best country and western attire but with a hint of contemporary style. The boy has on a crisp white shirt and dark jeans, including cowboy boots. The girl’s wearing black tights with a leopard print skirt, white top, and an adorable pink bow in her hair.

I’d be dizzy if I spun around so much.

Throughout the Jive, you see the boy spinning and twirling his partner over and over again. If that were me, I’d quickly become dizzy. But not this girl. She’s a pro. She’s so focused that she never misses a beat. At the same time, it’s easy to tell the boy is in full control the entire time.

People are starting to pay attention to them.

As the pair keeps dancing the Jive, you begin to see people coming forward to watch. Before long, they start clapping in tune to the music. That seems to intensify the couple’s moves. What a fun time. Can you imagine being the only two on a large dance floor with a live band playing on stage? I know I can’t.

They make it look so easy.

For this boy and girl, every move is fluid. You can’t help but think, “I could do that.” But then you realize it’s not as easy as they make it look. There’s a good chance these two have been dance partners for a long time. Well, at least a few years considering they’re so young.
