When we see celebrities everywhere, we start to think of them as a completely different species.
Perhaps due to overexposure and entertainment news, we think of movie stars and famous musicians as existing in their own world separate from ours, completely different from us. When you’re famous, do you do anything like the rest of the world does? Do you go grocery shopping and do laundry still? Though your life is likely to get a huge upgrade from wealth and fame, it’s sometimes fun to remember how similar we all are.
At least, that’s what one video that Keith Urban recently uploaded to Facebook shows.
For those who don’t know, Urban is an Australian country music artist originally born in New Zealand.
If you’re not a country music fan, you may also recognize him from his high-profile appearances on American Idol and The Voice. Still, Urban’s star power is eclipsed by his world famous and talented wife, Academy Award-winning actress Nicole Kidman. As anyone who has seen Moulin Rouge knows, Kidman is a strong singer in her own right.
All of this is perhaps why a video of Urban and Kidman doing car karaoke together is seemingly breaking the internet.
In a video that seems like a winking parody of similar videos, Kidman and Urban do a sweet and intimate performance of Urban’s song, “The Fighter.”
As the clip begins, Kidman exaggeratedly feigns surprise as the song comes on. “Oh my God, I love this song!” she says. The two then do a call and response to the love song in their car, with Kidman picking up Carrie Underwood’s part. The video goes on for several cute and slightly awkward minutes.
By the end of the video, everyone is guaranteed to have a smile on their face.
The video now has more than 71 million views on Facebook and it’s easy to see why.
Urban and Kidman’s relationship is adorable in itself and is made somehow all the more alluring though this intimate moment they’ve shared with the internet. As it turns out, the song “The Fighter” was written based on Urban’s early relationship with Kidman and the process of wooing his wife-to-be:
“It was a very quick song to write because I literally just thought about Nic and I, and our relationship at the beginning and some of the things that we’d said. And they all went into that song.”
Needless to say, the internet approves of this duet wholeheartedly!
