Have you been watching The Voice this season?
The show is currently still in the Blind Audition round, which is definitely the most exciting part of the show until the finale.
During the Blind Audition, hopeful singers belt out the song they think they sing the best in an attempt to get the coaches to turn their chair.
Every singer hopes to get a coveted four-chair turn, but just one coach turning around is enough to get them into the competition.
The auditions you want to watch are the ones where every coach turns. Because that usually means that there is going to be a fight to the death over which coach gets to add the singer to their team.
Katie Kadan’s Blind Auditon on The Voice was one of those moments.
The singer chose to perform Aretha Franklin’s “Baby I Love You” for her audition and literally seconds into performing, she had the coaches hooked.
Katie’s voice is one of those rare voices that you don’t hear often. The moment you hear her sing, it is easy to tell that the coaches are going to love her.
Sure enough, Kelly Clarkson had a big reaction when Katie hit one specific note. Her face really said it all!
But, sadly for Kelly, she didn’t get a chance to sway Katie to be on her team. One of the other coaches blocked her before she even got the chance!
Coaches each get to block one other coach during the season. It is a move used when they think the hopeful singer might choose that coach over them.
Kelly was distraught when she realized that she was blocked. All of the coaches get a little theatrical during the audition round. So, it wasn’t that surprising to see Kelly get onto her knees and pretend to cry when she saw the big red BLOCKED on the floor.
While things didn’t work out for Kelly, Katie had a great audition, because she got the coveted four-chair turn!
Katie told the coaches that she’s been performing for the last eight years, but she used to be afraid to perform. Because she considers herself a chubby girl in a skinny girl’s world. However, she’s feeling better now and really showed off her pipes!
John Legend was the first coach on The Voice to praise Katie. He said:
“Katie, you came in here and rocked this audience. You know, some singers come in here and technically, they’re very good. But they don’t give you any thrill, there’s no rock and roll energy. And you gave us all of that! Every bit of rawness and the fire in your voice. I turn around and you’re this fountain of excitement. You’re perfect for this show.”
While Blake tried to win her over, the fact that he blocked Kelly seemed to get in his way. Because Katie wound up choosing Team Legend! Which is a great choice, since John was so excited by her performance.
One Facebook user was quick to say that Katie is clearly going to be the winner. They wrote:
Love!!! her. She is my pick even after hearing all the others. Love her voice and love her stage presence. She is the whole package for me.
While another user thinks the end might be a little more tragic:
OK so let me tell you what’s gonna happen. She’s gonna be the crown favorite, we’re gonna be totally invested in her, she’s gonna wow us week after week, she’s gonna make it to the top 4, then they’ll give it to someone else.
What did you think of Katie’s voice? Do you agree that she has a voice powerful enough to get her to the finale?
