As a contestant during the fifth season, she was among those who appeared early on. Although Kat didn’t win American Idol, she was the runner up. Okay, so she didn’t leave with the title but she’s done incredibly well for herself as a live and recording artist. Not only did she grab record deals, but she also entered the field of acting. Although a bit controversial at first, Kat went on to marry David Foster, a Canadian musician, composer, and music executive. He’s responsible for making some of the biggest stars in the world. David has also written hit songs, many that you probably know like “After the love is gone” and the theme to St. Elmo’s Fire.
They love singing together
Music is a passion that Kat and her husband share. That’s why they often sing together. Not only is it something that brings them closer together but fans also love it.

Perhaps one of David’s most well-known songs is “The Prayer.” Although nominated for an Oscar, it didn’t win. But in the video the two of them recorded, Kat says the song should’ve won. And we have to agree.

While “The Prayer” might be a somewhat simple song, Kat gave an impressive performance that took it over the top. Especially when she hits some high notes at the end, you can’t help but marvel at her talent. Her voice is magical.

The couple might not have a live audience, but that doesn’t mean their fans don’t love their rendition of this song. One commenter said, “We need an original Katharine McPhee ballad recorded by these two ASAP! Magic together they are!” Who knows… maybe they’ll come out with an album at some point.
