Just because you’re a police officer, doesn’t mean you can’t occasionally let your hair down.
When Officer Ray Ohl was asked to create a video for the famous Lip Sync Battle, he agreed to represent the Logan Police Department. But he didn’t do it alone though. He invited his K9 buddy to join him, and I’ll give you one guess who ended up stealing the spotlight!
If you’re somebody that enjoys watching viral videos, likely the Lip Sync Battle was one of them.
The internet craze had first responders across the nation showing off their incredible lip syncing skills.
According to CBS News, the battle began after the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office posted Deputy Alexander Mena’s lip sync performance on their Facebook page. Several days later, another cop created one, and quickly it spiraled into a whole internet challenge!
Soon police departments everywhere were posting their own entertaining (and sometimes funny) videos.
Officer Ohl’s performance was filmed inside his patrol car. At first, it’s a solo act.
One thing that makes the Lip Sync Battle a lot of fun is that the participants can pick any song they’d like. Over the course of the challenge, cops have “performed” a variety of hits including “Uptown Funk,” “Footloose,” and Wilson Phillips’ “Hold On.”
For the Iowa officer’s video, he mouths the words to “The Middle” (by Zedd, Grey, and Maren Morris).
Somebody’s been doing their homework.
Officer Ohl has obviously listened to “The Middle” a 100 times because he knows all the lyrics by heart (which is important in the battle). But what makes watching him even more enjoyable are his facial expressions. Mixed with the female voice, he’s like a passionate pop-star!

On top of having a good sense of humor, Officer Ohl appears to be very kind too. During the video, he randomly waves at people through his window.
But here comes the best part…
About 1 minute and 30 seconds in, the officer slides open the door behind him. Say hello to Piko!
The K9 (who was waiting so patiently to join) pops right out and takes his spot in “the middle” of the seats. Aww, he must know the song too.

Officer Ray Ohl is a superstar performer on his own. However, there’s nothing cuter than a furry, four-legged sidekick! Piko’s got his tongue out and he seems happy to be upfront with Ohl (who continues to sing his heart out).
Piko takes over.
The German Shepherd so sweetly tries to check out the front of the patrol car while his co-worker holds him back a bit. Sure, Ohl is the one lip syncing, but Piko’s winning hearts too!
