The champions from North Carolina once again taking the floor ready to dazzle and win hearts.
The National Shag Championships is a three night event having over 50 contestants in six divisions and these two are the winners of the Junior 1 division. They can’t be stopped.
Here are the champs.
Mack West and Trinity Davis are fast becoming household names for their sensational dancing and consistency in winning.
It seems like they spent their childhood years perfecting their craft on the dance floor.
They both really look the part too. Sweet faces next door that would join you for tea but at the same time rock the party as your friends.
A reassuring tap on her back should settle those jitters.
The quick and smooth Shag was born on the beaches of South Carolina and rose in popularity during the 40s. It was known as “beach music” to most.
It has also been described as such:
“A cold beer on a warm night with a hot date and no plans for tomorrow.”
Doesn’t get any cooler and more poetic than that.
You will never see Shag dancing the same way again.
A lot of stepping forward and backward with a one-and-two, three-and-four counts while swaying those hips from left to right is a pretty good picture of this dance if any one asks what it’s like.
Or just show them a video of Mack and Trinity. It’s like they dislocate their joints and loosen their muscles when they start moving. This is fluid motion at its finest.
Shag is a two person male-led dance with lots of imagination.
And Mack certainly does have imagination. He must spend his days and nights just thinking of new moves and new ways to surprise his fans because it’s working. Just look at those faces in the crowd.
Another beautiful accessory to their dances is Trinity’s lovely smile. Any event and any video, she never fails to light up the room.
All eyes on West and Davis tonight.
The general idea of the Shag is that the partners are to look like they mirror each other. In dress, look, and especially the dance. A certain chemistry and connection need to exist to draw the attention of the audience.
It’s like Mack and Trinity are kindred souls destined to perform with each other. She is the perfect compliment to his style.
Mack’s twist, spin, and dip garnering approving smiles from the audience.
“Thirsty ears” by The Powder Blues Band set the tone for this dynamic duo’s fantastic Shag. They move so smoothly and yet with crystal clear precision. Every step and spin matching the upbeat melody.
The crowd loves it. Every cheer and clap lifting the energy and inspiring Mack and Trinity to up the ante.
Even the judges had to be impressed by that one.
And they do. They turn it up a notch and it seems like the moves get faster, each one more sensational than the last.
The crowd roaring their approval. It’s not hard to see why these two are at the top of their game.
