Every season, “Britain’s Got Talent” showcases a plethora of dancers, each bringing their unique flair to the stage.
Among them, a particular act left an indelible mark, setting itself apart in a spectacular manner.
This act was none other than 17-year-old Taylor Goodridge from London, England.
However, Taylor is better known by his stage name, Balance Unity.
He graced the stage during this season of BGT, aiming to astonish everyone present.
The judges, however, were in for a surprise.
Balance Unity’s performance was far from the usual dance routines they were accustomed to.
For those aspiring to make a mark on reality show competitions like The Voice, The X Factor, or BGT, song selection is paramount.
But more than that, bringing a unique touch to the stage is equally crucial.
As Balance’s “song” began, it wasn’t the expected melody but a robotic voice announcing, “Hello Ladies and Gentlemen.
Today I’m going to take you back. Way back.”
The atmosphere was thick with anticipation.
The audience and judges alike were left guessing what would come next.
The ambiance quickly shifted as sci-fi sounds echoed, only to be replaced by the iconic tune of Elvis Presley’s 1956 hit, “Hound Dog.”
The audience erupted in cheers as Balance channeled the legendary Elvis, swaying his hips in perfect rhythm.
But just as everyone was getting into the groove, the music took another turn.
The Bee Gees’ timeless disco track, “Stayin’ Alive,” filled the room.
This song, famously associated with “Saturday Night Fever,” saw Balance pulling off some impressive John Travolta-inspired moves.
It became evident that Balance was taking everyone on a musical journey through time.
And what’s a trip through the 80s without a touch of Michael Jackson?
Balance flawlessly transitioned into the King of Pop’s iconic “Thriller” moves, only to switch to MC Hammer’s 1990 sensation, “U Can’t Touch This.”
Balance’s unparalleled dance skills were evident.
He had the audience hooked, their smiles a testament to his captivating performance.
But Balance had more tricks up his sleeve.
The act took a humorous twist when he mimicked Susan Boyle, a memorable BGT runner-up, much to the amusement of Simon Cowell, who was a judge that season.
In a surprising and comedic moment, Balance’s cell phone began to ring mid-performance.
While it initially seemed like an interruption, he cleverly incorporated it into his act by answering with Adele’s hit song “Hello.”
He didn’t stop there, seamlessly transitioning to Drake’s catchy “Hotline Bling.”
No outstanding BGT performance is complete without a judge getting involved.
Alesha Dixon couldn’t resist joining in, mirroring Balance’s “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)” moves.
After an exhilarating two-minute performance, Balance feigned exhaustion, collapsing on stage.
But as he rose, he was met with a standing ovation, a testament to his exceptional talent.
Balance’s performance was not just entertaining; it was a masterclass in originality.
It embodied the essence of what every BGT audition should strive for.
