When a group of young lads named “Collabro” graced the stage of Britain’s Got Talent, the initial reactions from the judges were far from enthusiastic.

At first glance, they seemed like just another boy band, a trend that’s arguably been overdone in the music scene.

As they introduced themselves, they mentioned their day-to-day professions: laborers, hospital staff, gas station attendants.

Notably, none of them had a background in professional music.

The judges’ skepticism only deepened when the group revealed they had been harmonizing for just a month.

Simon Cowell couldn’t hide his cynicism, rolling his eyes in response, while Amanda Holden seemed to cringe, perhaps feeling second-hand embarrassment for the group.

However, the atmosphere shifted dramatically once Collabro began their performance.

Instead of a typical pop number or a choreographed dance, they chose the challenging “Stars” from the iconic musical, Les Misérables.

Each member showcased his unique vocal prowess, from deep and resonant tones to versatile ranges.

By the end of their rendition, the entire auditorium was on its feet.

The roaring applause and cheers were deafening.

Even the previously skeptical Holden couldn’t resist jumping up to celebrate their performance.

The atmosphere was electric, reminiscent of a Broadway show’s standing ovation.

Overwhelmed with emotion, Holden exclaimed, “You’ve reduced me to tears. I’m bursting with pride for you. That was absolutely brilliant.”

All eyes then turned to Simon Cowell, notorious for his candid and often brutal feedback.

The tension was palpable as everyone awaited his verdict.

“When you guys first walked out, I thought, ‘Oh no, not another boy band. This is going to be a disaster,’” Cowell began.

But then, in a surprising twist, he added, “However, that was an absolutely brilliant audition.”

The members of Collabro struggled to hold back their tears, clearly moved by the judges’ praise.

David Walliams commended them for their song choice and labeled their performance as “flawless.”

Alesha Dixon, equally impressed, remarked, “Achieving this level of perfection in just a month is astonishing.

This is undoubtedly one of the most powerful auditions I’ve ever witnessed.”

Riding high on this wave of approval, Collabro sailed through to the next round, receiving a unanimous ‘yes’ from all four judges.

As they exited the stage, the soulful strains of “I Dreamed a Dream” by Susan Boyle, another Britain’s Got Talent sensation, played in the background.

Boyle had similarly captivated the judges and the world with her rendition of a Les Misérables song.

Collabro’s journey didn’t stop there.

After clinching the title for their season of Britain’s Got Talent, they joined the esteemed ranks of artists under Simon Cowell’s record label, Syco.

Their meteoric rise to fame saw them touring globally and even signing with a prominent American record label.

But, as they often reminisce, their incredible journey began in a humble rehearsal room above a London pub.
