Meet Joseph Allen, a college whiz-kid from Phoenix, Arizona, who’s brimming with so much self-assurance, it’s contagious!
At the tender age of 21, Joseph decided to take a shot at stardom by auditioning for the hit show, America’s Got Talent.
But he’s not your average contestant; he hails from a large, blended family and is the youngest of 12 siblings.
His upbringing was a group effort, with his mom, dad, stepmom, and stepdad all pitching in.
“When I told my dad I was going to be on America’s Got Talent, my dad cried.
He’s also known that I’ve had this thing of just, like, saying something and accomplishing it,” Joseph shared.
Joseph’s confidence isn’t just for show; he has the track record to back it up.
He once woke up and decided he wanted to be a motocross champion.
Guess what? After some rigorous training, he started winning races left and right.
And it wasn’t just motocross; he dipped his toes into the world of singing, posted videos online, and voila!
They went viral almost instantly.
Fast forward to the day of the audition, and Joseph steps onto the stage amid roaring applause.
Believe it or not, a whole bunch of his college pals had shown up to cheer him on.
Even Simon Cowell, the notoriously tough-to-please judge, couldn’t help but remark that Joseph had received the “best reaction for doing nothing he’d ever seen on the show.”
But Joseph wasn’t there to bask in applause; he had work to do.
He announced that he would be performing an original song, leaving the judges both skeptical and intrigued.
They couldn’t wait to see what he had up his sleeve.
Before diving into his performance, the judges wanted to know why he was competing.
Joseph’s response left them stunned: “I see myself as being someone who can make a major impact in the world and I just want to see how much of a footprint I can leave on earth before I leave.”
And when he started singing, it was crystal clear—Joseph’s voice was as big as his ambitions.
The song he performed was a heartfelt declaration of his desire to make a mark on the world.
It even included a rap segment dedicated to the AGT judges, which had everyone in stitches.
The crowd went particularly wild when Joseph belted out the line, “After today, the world’s gonna know my name.”
As he wrapped up his performance, the room erupted in cheers and a standing ovation from both the audience and the judges.
Simon, Julianne, and Gabrielle showered him with praise.
Julianne was especially moved, saying she was captivated by Joseph’s upbeat energy and enthusiasm.
But it was Howie Mandel who had the last word.
“From the moment you walked out, your smile was electric,” he said.
“You walked up with such exuberance, and that’s what life is. Life is a series of moments. People at home are talking about this moment. People in this room are talking about this moment.”
Then, in a dramatic flourish, Howie climbed onto the judges’ table and stomped on the golden buzzer, catapulting Joseph straight to the live shows in Hollywood.
