Known for his unusual tenor voice, Josh Groban’s first four solo albums went multi-platinum. And in 2007, he was the number-one bestselling artist in the US – selling a staggering 22.3 million records.

Josh Groban may be a superstar with a prolific career that spans singing, songwriting, acting, and producing, but he’s not afraid to share some special and candid moments with his fans.

The 35-year-old singer has bagged multiple Grammy nominations and collaborated with legends such as Céline Dion and Paul Simon.

But down-to-earth Groban confesses that his favorite place to sing is, surprisingly, not on stage or on Broadway…

Josh Groban is well-known for his charitable work and for just being a genuinely nice guy. He’s supported many worthy causes throughout his career.

During the Coronavirus pandemic that swept the globe, Groban was self-isolating along with everybody else when he decided to do something to really make a difference in people’s lives.

It all began with a performance from his home.

Groban decided to do a Billboard Live At-Home concert to raise money for Meals On Wheels America. He set up a piano and performed a few heartwarming songs as “a really nice sentiment for what everyone is going through right now,” and he dedicated them to all the health workers on the front line.

At the end of the live stream, fans began to beg Groban to perform “You Raise Me Up.” Groban obliged but moved into his shower for better “acoustics.”

“It started just on a whim. I was doing a Billboard concert from my bedroom; I got a request for a couple of songs, and I knew it just kind of needed some bigness to the voice. It was kind of dry in the bedroom; I wasn’t really happy with the acoustics. Such a snob! And so I started singing in the shower,” he told CBS.

Fans absolutely loved it. And so, the “Shower Songs” series was born.

Although Groban initially said that he was singing for the “acoustics,” he confessed to O magazine that he enjoys singing in the shower for other reasons:

“I think of the shower as a little confidence cube: It gives me the courage to sing higher than I should,” he shared.

And one of Groban’s Shower Songs was such a hit that it’s become an anthem to show support to health workers everywhere.

Groban’s performance of “You’ll Never Walk Alone” has received more than 200,000 views since he uploaded it onto his YouTube channel. But does everyone sound better in the shower?

“I think it’s scientifically proven. I mean, I know Dr. Fauci’s got other things on his mind right now, but when this is all over with, I’m gonna ask our greatest scientists to talk about why we sound so much better in the shower!” Groban told CBS.

It’s not the first time he’s performed this song, however.

Back in 2015, Groban also performed “You’ll Never Walk Alone,” but he was backed by a complete orchestra.

But this version, sung in his shower, hits you right in the feels.

The song is truly breathtaking… only Groban’s voice could carry such incredible notes, and he has absolutely no musical instruments to back him up! This stripped-away version is even better than the original.
