They’ve been dancing together since they were young and have racked up a long list of accomplishments over the years. In the end, it’s a dance that even helped lead them to become the Overall Champions of the competition.
Get ready to be amazed by Autumn and Brennar as they light the dance floor on fire with their incredible skills that had the onlookers and judges very impressed. Soon you’ll realize why they took home the crown!
The NSDC has been taking place in Myrtle Beach since 1984, and according to its website is “the longest continuously running shag dance contest in the United States.”
Autumn and Brennar are both highly-skilled dancers who also have separate professions too. Brennar is a department of defense contractor for the United States Army National Guard, while Autumn is a cosmetologist and bartender.
In the video below, their dance is set to Jerry Lee Lewis’ version of the hip song “Drinking Wine, Spo-Dee-O-Dee.” It’s a fast-moving track that combines well with the duo’s lightning-fast feet!
All eyes are on Autumn and Brennar as they show off their Shag dancing talents.
Not only do their legs seem to be made out of jelly, but they spin like they’re lighter than air. The couple’s moves are so smooth they’re quite mesmerizing to watch. One woman commented on YouTube:
“Could watch them all day, I swear. Wow.”
The fact that Autumn and Brennar have such strong chemistry on the dance floor likely has to do with their long history of dancing together.
According to the Sea Sun And Swing website, they first met at the young age of eight and started Carolina Shag dancing together at 13. On top of being champion dancers in Shag, they’ve also won titles in West Coast Swing as well.
Autumn and Brennar enjoy traveling and bringing Carolina Shag to people across the globe. Autumn has even taught her son, Connor Sanders, how to dance the style.
Once you witness them in action it’s easy to tell they’ve put a lot of time, hard work, and dedication into the art.
Another commenter posted:
“These two are absolutely fabulous, deserved winners, love it all the way from New Zealand, love it.”
The Shag originated on South Carolina’s beaches in the 1940s becoming popular with the younger crowd. Nowadays, many are still learning the style and taking their skills to competitions.
Autumn and Brennar, who are no strangers to wowing judges – pull out some pretty fancy moves. At one point, Autumn holds her leg up and twirls several times with the help of her partner. But it’s not the only move that causes spectators to cheer.
The NSDC is an award-winning event itself and has turned out many champions over the years.
Their website shares how winners in the past have been able to perform on television shows such as CBS This Morning and Good Morning America. In addition, they’ve also danced at events including the Beach Music Awards, NBA games, and PGA Annual Banquets.
During the competition, Autumn Jones and Brennar Goree received first-place in the Professional Division category and became the Overall Champions. Watch the video below to see how amazingly talented they are for yourself!
