Johanna Colón is our new favorite kid to watch.
This little sass machine went viral multiple times before she was “officially” discovered by Hollywood. Since then, she’s acted in a few things, but we still feel like we’re missing out.
We want more Johanna!
She was just six when her performance to Aretha Franklin’s “R-E-S-P-E-C-T” in a dance recital first launched her to Internet fame.
The video we’re going to show you is just as epic.
When her mom Elissa posted it, she wrote:
“Watch sassy tapper Johanna from Little Big Shots tap her way to Broadway with this hysterical number from the hit Broadway show Catch me if you Can! Over 35k view on FB!”
How has this only been viewed 260,000 times?!
Children’s dance can raise a lot of debate about what’s appropriate and what’s not for a certain age, whether it’s choreography or costumes. But the Little Big Shots – and Johanna’s performance, specifically – are glorious, fun, bright pink pure entertainment.
It’s a joy to watch her strut across the stage, feeling every bit of the song and soaking up the spotlight like it’s where she was born to be.
When we say Johanna steals the show, we truly don’t mean to take away from the effort of the other performers – they’re all great!
More importantly, they’re all doing their own thing.
Some are perfectly on beat, some have all the technical moves down perfectly – but we just can’t help that our eyes are drawn to one girl.
Of course, that’s got a lot to do with the fact that her mother was the one filming this particular video, so Johanna is always in the middle of the frame!
Since she went viral, Johanna, who is now 11, has now appeared in two episodes of HBO’s drama “Euphoria” as well as the Amazon Prime original film, “Troop Zero.”
She’ll also be in “Feel the Beat,” a Netflix film premiering in 2020.

“Troop Zero” might be her most iconic acting performance to date, and she even got to star alongside Oscar winners Viola Davis and Allison Janney!
In it, she plays Smash. Colón told ABC 11 News. She’s just one of a group of misfits brought together to form a troop of “Birdie Scouts” in 1977 rural Georgia.

The film is all about embracing who you are.
“It’s so much fun and I love inspiring other kids,” Colon explained. “So, they can say, ‘I can do that. I want to do that.’ I want people to know that if they’re getting picked on it’s not ok and you’re not alone.”

The sassy pre-teen from Raleigh, North Carolina is now at home due to the pandemic but getting back into improvisation classes at Moonlight Stage Company, as well as singing and Spanish lessons.
And, of course, she’s also back in her dance class – which excites her the most.
While we’re excited to watch her on the big and small screens, we’re still big fans of her YouTube videos – long before she knew she’d ever be famous beyond the Internet.
