More than 3 decades after its launch, one might think that people would forget about a film – but it’s different for iconic movies.

It has been 35 years since the world first met Frances ‘Baby’ Houseman and her dashing dance instructor, Johnny Castle, the characters played by actress Jennifer Grey and actor Patrick Swayze in the 1987 hit film “Dirty Dancing.”

It was a film that made millions fall in love in the summer of 1987, and it brought attention to the two main stars who achieved stardom after starring in their roles. Everyone went crazy for the sexy dance instructor and his innocent young student.

Sparks flew whenever the stars were together.

Because of their incredible chemistry, both Jennifer and Patrick were loved by the fans as a couple and as individual stars. Whenever they were together, fans would swoon and clamor over their attention and presence.

It was a crazy time and both stars were phenomenal.

In a recent interview with People, actress Jennifer Grey shared her take on how it was when she and Patrick worked together.

Jennifer had a story to tell about their work together – and she confirmed something that would be unpopular with fans.

There were stories about how Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze were not on good terms on set (unlike their characters in the movie who are definitely crazy about each other). The two of them did not get along, but because of their work, the pair was “forced to be together.”

As much as the fans would hate it, Jennifer confirms this as a fact in her interview with People.

“The same way Baby and Johnny were not supposed to be together … a natural match, right? And we weren’t a natural match. And the fact that we needed to be a natural match created a tension,” the actress shared.

The tension between them was something they had to work with.

For some people, it is easier to move on and simply avoid a person you don’t like – but in their case, that wasn’t exactly possible. Even though they did not find each other likable, Jennifer and Patrick had to be together because of their work.

Their dislike for each other has led to a tension that made working more difficult. People wanted them to be together badly, but both were in respective relationships at the time. They also never saw each other in a romantic way.

“And the weird thing was, it’s like, “What’s wrong with me?” I mean, I was not lacking. And he was married and very in love with his wife,” the world-renowned actress shared.

She could not help but think of Patrick during the interview and the words that she could have said if he were still around. The actor passed away in 2009 due to pancreatic cancer.

“I actually just had a thought about Patrick. I feel like if I could say anything to him now I would say, ‘I’m so sorry that I couldn’t just appreciate and luxuriate in who you were, instead of me wishing you were more like what I wanted you to be,” Jennifer said.

Undoubtedly, Jennifer and Patrick hit the jackpot after their breakthrough movie, Dirty Dancing. But, unlike the movies, real-life can be far more complex and difficult.

Despite this unpleasant memory, we have nothing but gratitude for these incredible stars because they made the summer of 1987 a one-of-a-kind part of history that will remain in the hearts of their fans forever.
