The band was formed way back in 1965 in San Francisco, California, and they became one of the pioneering bands of the psychedelic rock genre.

With the unique and fresh sound that they have brought at that time, they were able to find consecutive successes with their songs. The band was led by Marty Balin (vocals), Paul Kantner (guitar, vocals), Grace Slick (vocals), Jorma Kaukonen (lead guitar, vocals), Jack Casady (bass) and Spencer Dryden (drums). It was the original lineup that was inducted into the 1996 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

One of the songs that made them famous was “White Rabbit.”

Composed by Jefferson Airplane’s female vocalist Grace Slick, “White Rabbit” was one of their ultimate breakthroughs to success.

It was one of their famous hits from the 1967 album Surrealistic Pillow. Moreover, White Rabbit made the list at Rolling Stone’s “500 Greatest Songs of All Time” including another of their songs, “Somebody To Love.” The band also sang the song at one of their big concerts at Winterland, San Francisco in 1975.

Coming back to their hometown with a new name, they set their stage on fire once again with their music.

With a new lineup, the band gave the crowd a taste of their new album.

However, they also brought back a couple of nostalgic songs from their old albums including “White Rabbit.” They have nine songs on their concert setlist and “White Rabbit” was at the near bottom.

The night was long and the band just finished their seventh track on the list when they started rocking for the next song.

They kicked off with a marching drumroll, followed by the lead guitarist’s electrifying riffs. The awesome guitar licks excited the crowd even more—especially when the guitarist played its distorted tunes. The intro went on for five long minutes, pleasing the ears of their audience before Grace Slick started singing the lyrics of the song.

Slick glued herself on one spot as she stood on stage while singing “White Rabbit.”

The entrancing melody merged with Slick’s raspy vocals as she stares at the crowd without blinking. As it was their second-to-the-last track, the band gave it their all to keep the energy going before they proceed to the next song.
