Jazz and trap are two genres of music that you would probably not ever expect to see together in harmony. But this incredible musician has found a way to seamlessly make it work!

Playing the saxophone, he has co-opted this popular trap track into smooth jazz, playing nothing but his soprano saxophone.

If you’re not familiar (and if you’re not an avid trap fan, I assume you aren’t), Roddy Richh is a 21-year-old rapper from Compton, California.

He made it big a couple years ago and has now worked with other notable rappers like and Meek Mill and Ty Dolla $igns, but is most famous for his solo song, The Box.

And that’s the very song Jazz musician Bryan Thompson (who goes by B. Thompson) has chosen to reimagine.

This stellar contemporary jazz artist is from Indianapolis is just 22 years old!

I’m not very familiar with trap music myself, but as soon as he started playing it was clear it wouldn’t be a traditional jazz song. There’s an underlying sample from the original song’s backing track with an unusual “beep boop” on repeat.

He comes in with his sexy and smooth saxophone, and then the recognizable synthesized drum beat kicks in – that’s the hallmark of every trap song to ever exist.

While most viewers were commenting on his amazing skill, one guy pointed out a smaller detail.

Which, now that he’s drawn attention to it, same!

If Thompson forgets to take those headphones off and so much as moves slightly to the side, or stands up, it’s game over.

The 2.3k other people who liked the comment clearly agree, too.

Someone get this man a longer cord!

But the bulk of the comments are centred around how incredible this one minute cover is. Thompson has some serious breathing skills.

Playing the saxophone is hard work, and he’s taken on such a fast pace, that it seems as if he doesn’t take a breath the entire time!

And it didn’t go unnoticed. Some fans left hilarious comments about his ability to just… well, not breathe.

I don’t know how he does it.

There are people are out here complaining that they can’t breathe through their masks when shopping at Costco. Meanwhile, Bryan Thompson doesn’t breathe for a full minute and smiles like it’s nothing at the end of it all.

That’s some dedication to the craft.

Even if you’re not a trap music fan, this beautiful cover is worth listening to.

It’s been viewed more than 800,000 times, but full disclosure, about 100 of those were me.

Thompson doesn’t just cover trap music. He has a serious range of genres that he turns into smooth contemporary jazz, including pop, Disney classics, country, and even the National Anthem.

There’s really no limit to what he can do with his gift.

When sports are back up and running, I want to see this man kicking off a game with his patriotic jazz rendition.

Watch the video below for his cool jazz cover of Roddy Richh’s popular trap song, The Box.

Those are definitely some words I never thought I’d say!
