Eminem’s song “Lose Yourself” was the first hip hop song to ever win an Oscar—and for good reason.

Since then, many people have covered the song in both good and not so good renditions. But this jazz remake of the popular song is among the best of them! This unique band transforms the hit-song into an incredible group performance that would make the “Rap God” proud.

Covering Eminem not an easy thing to do.

As one of the best rap artists of all time, his lyrics are always complex with a difficult rhyme scheme that can be hard to follow. Even so, Anderson does an incredible job of keeping up with the lyrics and the breath control, all while gliding through the song with ease.

In the clip, she performs with a seven-person band of musicians and instruments of a wide variety.

With piano, drums, bass, trombone, tenor saxophone, violin and incredible vocals, you simply can’t go wrong! At the beginning of the video, the band plays a live remix of the beat, while Anderson sings those famous first words:

“His palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy, there’s vomit on his sweater already, mom’s spaghetti.”

They continue to nail the insanely complex rap song, all while managing to make it their own.

Most people that attempt to cover Eminem songs are left scratching their heads, wondering how he fits all those words in. For their part, Anderson and her band are able to cover the song word for word, with plenty of mesmerizing melodies behind the lyrics.

When they get to the famous chorus, the band breaks out some sensational tunes that add some extra flair to the song.

After the chorus, violinist Scott Tixier breaks out an outstanding solo, as Anderson gets ready for the second verse.

Every member of the band produces high-quality sounds that complement Anderson’s voice very well. The way they’re able to mimic the song while giving it an awesome jazz twist is wonderful.

I could watch this over and over again!

There are not many musicians who have the guts to cover Eminem, but Anderson and her bandmates are up to the challenge.

It’s no wonder Anderson is a YouTube sensation! For any fans of this performance, she also has her own YouTube channel with 567,000 subscribers. On there, she posts extraordinary covers of songs from all genres.

This is one of the best covers of Eminem I’ve ever seen.

It’s nearly impossible to outdo Marshall Mathers on his own song, but these guys definitely came close! And if you ever wanted a version of the song that sounded a little different, this is the performance for you.
