When you think of the song “The Prayer,” perhaps Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli’s powerful duet is the first to come to mind. In fact, it remains on a list of music favorites for a lot of us.

But that doesn’t mean other artists haven’t taken a crack at “The Prayer” and produced their own stunning versions as well. Over the years we’ve seen many talented vocalists join up to perform “The Prayer” on stage – and this time it was Jackie Evancho and Fernando Varela who stole everyone’s breath.

Jackie Evancho first won our hearts when she was just a kid on America’s Got Talent.

In 2010, she stepped in front of the judges looking like an angel. What amazed everyone though is that she sounded like one too! 10-year-old Jackie sang the opera classic “O mio babbino caro” with a mature voice that captivated the AGT crowd and viewers at home.

It was only the beginning for Jackie.

During season five of AGT, the young vocalist placed second in the competition. But because of her incredible talent, doors immediately opened up for Jackie, and she was launched into stardom where she’s remained ever since.

Jackie’s records have topped the Billboard Classical chart and she’s made great achievements in the music industry. One example is that the success of her EP album, O Holy Night, led her to become the youngest artist to go platinum in the United States.

As a teen, Jackie joined up with Fernando Varela to deliver a rendition of “The Prayer.”

Fernando is a renowned tenor who’s lit up stages across the globe with his vocal talent. In 2017, he had a television special called Coming Home which aired on PBS. It was during this event that he performed with Jackie.

If you haven’t watched their duet before, just know it’s spine-tingling.

Jackie begins the performance with a solo, singing the lyrics of “The Prayer” in English. Her voice is just as magnificent as ever.

Music artists Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli originally created separate versions of the song for the 1998 movie Quest for Camelot – Celine’s in English, and Andrea’s in Italian. They later released a duet.

A short time in, Fernando unleashes his rich, beautiful voice.

Fernando sings his part in Italian just like Andrea Bocelli, and the pair start going back and forth with the lyrics. The combination of their talent is simply divine.

One viewer wrote:

“Excellent! The chemistry of these two performing together is electric! May they have many more duets together in the future.”

Jackie Evancho and Fernando Varela aren’t alone on stage though.

The performance is brought to new heights by the instrumentalists that join them. One is the famous violinist Caroline Campbell, and she too is taking people’s breath away with her skill.
