If having two left feet is a bad thing, then this dancing duo have four right feet between them. Allow me to introduce Michael Kielbasa (yes, like the sausage) and Kristen Humphrey, the fanciest footed duo I ever did see. They came together to compete in this improvised dance for which they won the first prize.
But you don’t just get a 1st place by doing mediocre moves!
Quite the opposite in fact. These two are a match made in heaven, although that might not be a good thing for the announcer who tells Michael “I’m watching you”, as him and Kristen take center stage and begin moving together.
I guess that’s why Michael is keeping Kristen at arm’s distance at first!
But then when they begin, you best believe they kick it off strong.
In some cases quite literally! Kicking is true, when you see how good these two are on their feet. They’re lightning fast, and so coordinated, you really struggle to believe this wasn’t a well rehearsed routine, but was an improvised flaunt-fest.
Another interesting thing about their performance is the music.
They are performing a sort of modern swing dance, but the music that starts playing is very contemporary indeed! Not the honky-tonk style piano you’d associate with such a jazzy style of dance, but Brandon Beal’s song “Twerk It Like Miley”, which if you’re not familiar, is a pop/hip hop style tune. I’m not one hundred percent certain, but I’m pretty sure they weren’t dancing to songs about twerking!
Their dance moves are dynamic.
They dip, they skip, they…try not to trip? Well I guess that is true, although you couldn’t tell with how light on their feet they are. It seems as if you could drop them and they would land on their feet like cats…or, dancing cats… you know what I mean. One thing is for sure, they have skills your casual dance-floor-goer could only dream of!
One comment reads:
“There was once a time. I love watching but makes me sad. A use ta be, Now wanna be.”- Melvin Olson
That’s pretty sad Melvin, but I have to say, I feel ya on that one.
They certainly love to spin, that’s for sure.
Which makes it even more remarkable that they’re improvising! You’d think it would be hard to pull off a spin when your partner isn’t ready to actually spin you, but that doesn’t seem to be the case for these quick thinking steppers. Halfway through their routine, the music changes up to0.
We go from a modern pop/ hip-hop song to the king of pop, Michael Jackson, with his song “A Place With No Name”.
Of course, you don’t win dance competitions by NOT doing the moonwalk!
Especially when you’re dancing to MJ. The audience go wild as Kristen nails the moonwalk, and Michael follows her along with his own fancy footwork.
