Amidst unprecedented lockdowns across the globe due to the COVID-19 pandemic, musicians everywhere are picking up their instruments. Two of those musicians are 12-year-old twins Mirko and Valerio from Sicily.

For them, there is no better way to pass the mandatory quarantine than by jamming out on the violin.

All of the weeks spent at home has given the twins a lot of time to practice and they’ve certainly put it to good use.

A few weeks ago, they posted a video on their YouTube channel of exactly what they’ve been up to and it quickly spread all around the world.

It turns out, Mirko and Valerio have been perfecting an epic violin cover of Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida”.

Music is one of the best stress relievers.

It allows us to forget about all of the troubles going on in the world currently and get completely absorbed in the present moment. The song “Viva La Vida” was an amazing choice. Translated literally it means “the life lives”, however, the true meaning in English is more like “long live life”.

It’s a celebration of the struggle the comes along with life and encourages people to keep on living.

It’s about overcoming adversity and keeping your head up — something that isn’t easy to do when society is completely on standstill across the globe.

However, with their beautiful cover, Mirko and Valerio hit all of the right notes.

“Viva la Vida’ by Coldplay seemed like the perfect song for this Sunday, full of sunshine and hope,” the twins explain.

Their positive energy is infectious.

During their performance, they both wore giant smiles on their faces and were basically bouncing around the room. It’s so cool to watch. Their incredible talent clearly shines through.

They are masters of the violin and know all of the ways to use them.

For example, partway through the performance, one of the boys popped the violin bow in his mouth to hold it temporarily and started playing the instrument like a guitar instead. It totally changed the sound and complemented the other violin perfectly.

It also showed us what can be accomplished by working together as a team.

The song requires two violins to sound complete, not just one.

“I just love this, look at how these two twins look at each other, not competing but working together in harmony, just imagine if the world could do this together,” writes one YouTube commenter.

Even when locked up at home, we still have the Internet to help keep us connected with one another.

It shows that we aren’t going to let this virus defeat us.

Even in the face of extreme challenges, humanity will prevail. It’s videos like these that help remind us of that and keep us focused on how great life is.
