All around the world, people have different wedding traditions.

Many of these traditions are important, but some are just for fun. Ireland, for example, had particular traditions that began centuries ago and are still relevant today. One of them is the singing of folk music on occasions along with people who are close to you.

Weddings are quite a big occasion in people’s lives because it creates a sacred union between two people.

Family and peers of both the bride and groom’s side are there at the wedding halls to witness and congratulate.

In 2017, a certain Irish wedding that took place at Kilshane House in Tipperary grabbed quite a lot of attention on the internet.

It was Patrice O’Connor’s and Donagh Davern’s wedding where their whole family, especially Patrice’s sister, Clodagh McCarthy, attended to show their support and celebrate alongside them.

After the formal wedding took place, they continued the celebration with some drinking and revelry.

It was 5 am already and only a few close peers and their families were left at their tables.

As they were running out of things to talk about, the sisters decided to fill the room with more fun with an Irish folk song: “(Ho, Ro) The Rattlin’ Bog.”

It’s also easy to admire how the lead singer never runs out of breath!

“The Rattlin’ Bog” is a folk song where the lyrics just build-up, as well as becoming exhausting overtime.

Some have even said that this song was used as a sobriety test where you had to remember the whole lyrics to pass it!

In the video, Clodagh sang her verses while her sister Patrice helped with the harmonies.

Clodagh did every verse almost perfectly with a breath to spare to sing along on the chorus. Even though she had quite a slip on one of the verses, she managed to get back on track.

It became more fun with people pitching in for the sisters.

The two sisters were accompanied with a rapid hand-drumming and clapping as they sang through the folk song.

Since it was technically morning, some also added in their yells to the energy of the room while having a whole lot of fun at the same time.

They were later known as The Rattlin’ Bog Sisters.

Patrice and Clodagh did not expect that their rendition of an Irish folk song would later make them global sensations!

The video spread like fire on social media until many became more interested in them. As their fame only grew bigger over time, the sisters stepped it up to the next level by taking their singing on the road as The Rattlin’ Bog Sisters. They performed together in a huge Irish Festival which took place in Wisconsin, US. Until now, people still come back to the video where their success started. It definitely is a jolly video to watch, especially if you are looking for something that will keep you up at 5 am!
