We all have our fair share of unforgettable bad travel experiences, right? It could be before, during, and after the flight.

From unruly passengers, feet pushing the back of your seat, uncontrollably loud snores, delayed flight, and the worst of them all – canceled flight.

As much as we would want to have a seamless travel, these inevitable circumstances couldn’t be avoided.

But let’s not forget the other side of the coin.

Traveling by air can also be literally and figuratively another ‘level’ of fun.

Just a couple of days ago, a fun-filled spontaneous inflight folk music performance took place on a flight from Belfast to Lanzarote.

It all started when a passenger named Sean Magee, pulled out his fiddle, and another traveler began a river dance in the aisle.

The scene was captured by Danny Walters, who was then on a holiday trip to The Canaries with his wife.

According to Danny, musician Sean Magee, who was on vacation with his wife as well, requested his friend to “pass him the fiddle” during the flight.

Sean then treated the passengers to a lively rendition of “Las Vegas in the Hills of Donegal,” a tune made famous in the 90s by the folk group Goats Don’t Shave.

Accompanied by fellow musicians Nathan Carter and Matthew Crampsey, the trio is currently among the prominent figures in Irish folk music.

The impromptu music festival propelled their inflight experience straight to cloud nine.

As the plane made its way to the Canary Islands, the video footage showed the passengers laughing, singing, and clapping along. It’s a typical scene that you’d see in an Irish pub where people are having a good time while enjoying a piece of festive music.

One enthusiastic woman even jumped up to perform a traditional Irish dance in the aisle.

“Sean had paid to have an extra seat for his fiddle, so he didn’t have to leave it in the hold,” Danny explained. “We got on the plane, and the boys were sitting behind us. About an hour or so in, we heard someone say, ‘guys, give us me fiddle over!'”

In the video, Magee enthusiastically called out, “‘Ave we got anyone from Donegal?” eliciting cheers from many passengers.

“I just happened to be sitting in front, so once I saw the fiddle come out, I brought out my camera. Then it all broke into Las Vegas in the Hills of Donegal; everybody loved it!” said Danny.

Magee had upcoming gigs on the island, and Danny was fortunate enough to meet up with the flying fiddler.

“While we were in Lanzarote, a couple of the boys from the plane got gigs, so we went down there for the craic—and they were very good!” he shared, using the uniquely Irish term for enjoying the center of the night’s action.

The fun continued as Walters and his wife attended one of Magee’s gigs on the Canary Islands. “While we were in Lanzarote, a couple of the boys from the plane got gigs, so we went down there for the craic, and they were very good!” he exclaimed.

Indeed, good music can instantly unite a group of people.
