No matter who you are, how old you are, where you are, or how confident you might be, break ups are hard.

To get that message across, this duo put on an incredible performance dancing to James Bay’s “Let It Go” in what looks like an abandoned loft. Their dance routine tells the heartbreaking story of a relationship coming to an end. It’s the kind of emotional hardship we’ve all experienced more than once.

Some relationships are bound to fall apart, but it doesn’t mean you stop loving the other person.

The song’s lyrics say it best:

“From throwing clothes across the floor,
To teeth and claws and slamming doors at you,
If this is all we’re living for,
Why are we doing it, doing it, doing it anymore?”

You get stuck in a vicious cycle where you’re fighting and unhappy, but still crawling back to each other because you can’t bear the idea of being apart.

The dance moves perfectly express the pain, fighting, and internal struggle that inevitably comes along with a break-up.

It will give you goosebumps and might even make you think about your old relationships…so proceed with caution.

The pair can’t get too close without pushing each other away again.

It’s a constant battle between love and hate. On the one hand, you know you’re not good together…but on the other, you’re addicted to the drama and the pain.

What is it about a doomed relationship that makes us want to hold on tighter? Why do we believe people will change?

It’s one of the greatest (and worst) human mysteries. The setting the producers chose for this performance is perfect. The derelict loft is peppered with old broken bits of furniture, and it reflects the couple’s broken relationship. It almost looks like one of them is in the process of moving out.

Towards the end, the dancers even add in some acrobatics.

What? You’ve never rolled around on the floor and done a fully extended backbend while your ex props your legs up? Strange.

James Bay has explained his inspiration for the album that includes his hit song, “Let It Go.”

It’s about all kinds of relationship struggles, including what it feels like to leave people behind that mean a lot to you.

“Tryna fit your hand inside mine,
When we know it just don’t belong,
There’s no force on earth,
Could make it feel right, no.”

One of the most moving parts of the routine is when one dancer holds the other’s leg as he tries to walk away.

It feels like the female dancer is trying her best to get her partner to stay, but he knows it’s better for both of them if he leaves.

There’s more pushing and pulling while the two get visibly emotionally drained by the “fight.”

It doesn’t matter how many lifts and technical dance moves they pull off together. It’s clear the relationship just isn’t working.

At the end, the two sit on opposite sides of the tattered, toppled couch.

This incredible piece was choreographed by Talia Favia, who’s famous for her emotional and expressive contemporary routines like this one.

The dancers, Chaz Buzan and Courtney Schwartz, nailed the performance. As it turns out, they’re actually both in happy relationships (with other people)! In all, the video has earned more than 15 million views from adoring fans and people who were hit right in the feels (like us).
