Weddings take a lot of planning. You have to think about the venue, the catering, the flowers, the DJ, and so many other things. It’s not often that a father and daughter have time to choreograph an entire father-daughter dance for the reception.
One daughter and her dad decided they wanted to truly make this an incredible day to remember. So, they wanted to create a special dance routine.
This wasn’t just going to be any class, slow-dance, head-on-the-shoulder, sappy kind of father-dance, though. Oh, no. These two were going to put a modernized and fun twist on the age-old tradition.
The MC gets on the mic and announces to the room that the father of the bride will be joining her on the dance floor. The family cheers as dad struts his stuff to meet his glowing daughter.
At first, the dad and his daughter start a light-hearted dance to the classic tune of “My Girl,” not a surprising choice for this moment at all.
At this point, the family and friends in the room suspect nothing out of the ordinary at all.
They embrace each other and smile, enjoying this moment on the dance floor and the crowd looks on at them in delight. Then, the song begins to wrap up, but this certainly wasn’t the end of their surprise performance.
After “My Girl” finishes, the upbeat sounds of “Boogie Shoes” and the father and daughter duo break out in synchronized, choreographed moves.
All of their families cheer out loud in delight as adorable family members get their groove on together. They must have been practicing this for weeks because their fun moves are perfectly on point!
Their dance could have ended there but they had so much more in store for all of the people they love that day. Now, “Boogie Shoes” comes to a close and the next song up? The Jackson 5’s “ABC” starts to come over the speakers.
Dad and daughter have yet another piece of awesome choreography to this well-known classic.
One of the best highlights of the video is when the father and daughter do the “fish and reel ’em in” move where he pretends to cast out a fishing line and she “catches” it. Of course, then he has to reel her on over and it’s just the cutest thing to watch. It’s clear that these two have such a fun- and love-filled bond with one another.
They laugh and dance a bit more until it’s time for the next song to pop up in their hilariously cute dance medley. But now? They’re taking it to some more modern songs.
The next song up is the millennial hit “The Janky Leg” that also comes with a dance of itself. Of course, dad has all the swagger he needs to pull it off!
The daughter can’t help but look at her dad with a giant smile as he takes center stage on this segment. Well, her dress isn’t exactly the easiest thing to dance in either, we’re sure. Dad, on the other hand, is loving the attention and gets down to boogie.
Their medley doesn’t stop there. In fact, song after song, these two just make the entire room smile bigger and bigger. Watch the full father-daughter dance medley in the video below.
