The two stars of the film are voiced by Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel, who lends her incredible vocal talents to the character of Elsa. The movie was also converted into a Broadway musical and has inspired all kinds of fan tributes as well, particularly around the song “Let It Go.”

And this story is just another example of that happening.

It all started when Idina Menzel was on her world tour in 2017.

As she passed through so many cities around the world and within the United States, she eventually stopped down in Dallas, Texas.

Though the shows were mostly dedicated to her singing a medley of her most popular and requested songs, she would also take somebody out of the audience at her many shows to help her sing some of them.

In this particular show, she chose a little boy from the front of the crowd.

To get it started, she introduced herself to the little boy, whose name was Luke.

As the backing music for “Let It Go” starts playing, she asks if he even knows what song is playing. He responds, “Let It Go!” He says it so forcefully that the whole audience laughs. But he’s not done yet.

After that, he asks Menzel, “What kind of question is that?” Once again, the whole crowd laughs. With that, Menzel has him stand up and puts her arm around him.

“Let me tell you what I’ve been through,” she says, as Luke smiles.

As she explains, Frozen’s songs have been hugely popular with girls—but plenty of boys say they don’t even like them.

After that, the little boy tells Menzel that he’s got all kinds of support for her. Although he’s nervous, Menzel says that they’re going to let Luke try to sing the song himself.

The performance was just supposed to be fun, she’s instantly stunned by how incredible his voice is! Beyond just simply singing it, he even puts in his own vocal runs and flourishes.

The whole time, the audience is cheering so loud that it gets hard to hear.

After that, Menzel makes a direct ask that the audience “shut up for a minute” so everyone can hear the intricacies of Luke’s voice!

Once again, she has him sing the song, this time to total quiet from the audience. Needless to say, Luke’s voice is just as precise and incredible as it was the first time—maybe even more so!

He takes all kinds of vocal flights and risks in his delivery, this time holding the microphone all on his own. Although it’s definitely nerve-wracking to be put on the spot like he was, he delivers flawlessly. At the very end, he even hits some impossibly high and powerful notes, way more than the original song even required!
