When talented folks are able to have a laugh about themselves, that’s when you get the best performances.
The Hyannis Sound is a group of young men that gather every summer on Cape Cod to bring joy to both locals and tourists alike. Cape Cod offers a ton of wholesome summer activities for families to enjoy with each other, including whale watching, beach combing, brunching, biking… generally enjoying the beautiful natural scenery and kitschy charm that the coastline has to offer.
Timeless memories are made in places like Cape Cod. It’s one of those charming places that brings families together!
The Hyannis sound adds to that charm. They pack churches and other venues to the brim for their a cappella concerts all summer long, and they always accumulate a ton of fans as the blistering weeks pass by.
These guys audition from colleges all across the country, from sea to shining sea, and only the very best of the best make it into the group.
They practice intensely for a couple of weeks at the beginning of the summer, writing and learning a huge repertoire of arrangements in record time. The sheer volume of what these guys are able to memorize is impressive enough, let alone how well they’re able to execute what they’ve learned.
Now only are all of these young men incredible vocalists, but they also have to be charismatic performers. Their singing gigs are what pay their rent and pad their pockets for the summer, so they’ve got to be able to put on a show that puts behinds into those seats.
One of the crowd favorites in their rotating repertoire is “It’s Raining Men” by The Weather Girls. If you have any question as to why all you need to do it brace yourself for the video below.
This particular performance is from an alumni show in 2014, so odds are that there are some folks in the audience that are antsy to see these particular soloists strut their stuff once again.
As soon as the three soloists step up in front of the rest of the group, the crowd goes wild!
The voices that these guys have is almost hard to believe. There’s no doubt that they’ve worked very hard to get where they are, but there is also a very special dash of natural talent.
Not only is this arrangement incredibly intricate and complicated, but the young men add even more flair with their dance moves.
The crowd absolutely eats it all up!
This particular performance was so good that one YouTube commenter said,
“Quite possibly the singular best performance in Hyannis Sound history”
There’s not a note out of tune or a step out of place for this whole performance. But enough talk about it, you’ve simply got to see it all for yourself!
If you don’t get a good laugh out of this, then I don’t know what else will. Have you ever seen anything quite like this before?
