Utah native Shane Jensen trained as a high-level competitive gymnast for most of his childhood, then switched to ballroom dancing where he truly flourished. Shannon Jensen performed on an acrobatic jump rope team for the American Heart Association as a youth and eventually began ballroom dancing, discovering just how much she loved the athletic artform.
As fate would have it, both Shane and Shannon attended Brigham Young University and first met when they were members of the world-renowned BYI Ballroom Dance Company, competing all around the world.
It wasn’t just a love of dance the two shared, but a love for each other flourished.
They danced together and found they matched each other perfectly on and off the dance floor. They are national and world dance champions in cabaret, theater arts, American rhythm and more.
The pair has even competed on America’s Got Talent, The America’s Ballroom Challenge, The Dance League and guest appeared on The Today Show. They showed the world just how fluid and amazing they are together when they slunk out onto the wooden dance floor to perform to the powerful song “Never Enough” from the hit movie The Greatest Showman.
Shannon walks out wearing heels and a sultry, glittering cut-out purple shimmering dress. Shane sports a tight black shirt and dance pants.
They move effortlessly, seamlessly together across the dance floor, radiating emotion as they dance.
They execute numerous lifts throughout their routine, including the first one in the choreography where he slides her between his legs and back through only to thrust her upward into a lift with one smooth move.
During another lift, Shane spins and spins and spins Shannon around, leaving the judges and spectators to wonder how they aren’t dizzy. Then he flips her out of the spin onto her stomach, pulls her across the floor and spins her around again by her ankles.
Together they perform floorwork, showing extreme emotion the whole time. He manages to stand up from the floor while holding her in a lift.
In another spin, she extends her leg up by her face while he spins her around and they dance and twirl across the floor, their movements commanding attention and respect.
Toward the end of their routine, Shane glides downward into a front split while suspending Shannon in the air as she slowly descends lower and lower, synchronized with his movements.
This particular performance has been viewed more than three million times with rave reviews shared by commenters.
“Literally no words for how fluid that was. I am shook.”
“I know everybody was struck by the fantastic lifts…but can we just take a moment and appreciate their perfect musicality.”
“I gave you guys a standing ovation from my room by accident out of shock and admiration.”
“This is the most beautiful dance I’ve seen so far. Perfect just perfect.”
“Can we just talk about him holding her in the lift and getting up like it ain’t no thang and like gravity is a force that only applies to lesser mortals? Made my jaw drop.”
See for yourself how impressive their choreography and routine is. It’s no wonder they are world and national champions!
You’ll be amazed at how they can move and how in sync this husband-and-wife dynamic duo is on the dance floor.
