Those who’ve been born and raised in a musical place like Nashville certainly understand that honky-tonk has a permanent place in country music history.
If you want to see it in action, here is a couple who definitely made that wooden dance floor creak beneath their feet.
In this video, dancers Katie and Jason show just how in sync two dancers can be.
As soon as you play the video, you’ll hear the distinctive sound of a steel guitar, and of course, a fiddle.
Katie and Jason are a dancing couple who grace the spacious stage, and their moves soon develop into a stunning routine that will easily leave any country music lover in awe. They have it all: perfectly timed moves, a charming closeness while dancing and some impressive dancing skills.
Effortless and smooth—that’s how we’d describe these two minutes of perfect dancing that left us speechless.
They’re dancing to the tune of “Honky Tonk Women” by Travis Tritt. It feels good to see them synchronized the way they are. Even if you’re not a huge fan of country music, their dancing is worth watching all on its own!
Jason and Katie deliver such an impressive choreography that you have to look at them twice to believe some of their intertwined moves are even possible.
Another interesting fact is that originally, “Honky Tonk Women” was a 1969 hit song by the Rolling Stones which topped charts for quite some time. Seems like the couple also loved it, as their passion for the music is written all over their faces.
When it comes to this dancing duo, Jason Colacino was a talented dancer and choreographer who danced swing, salsa, Argentine tango, ballet, jazz and ballroom dancing.
Unfortunately, he passed away in 2009 due to pneumonia and cardiac arrest. The world lost a great man whose dancing skills made many happy. His longtime partner Katie Boyle started dancing when she was only two years old and grew up to be one of the best choreographers in ballroom dancing.
Both Katie and Jason are completely wonderful!
The way they dance is mesmerizing, and we could watch them all day long. They are great partners to each other because they both know what the other is doing at all times, which goes a long way in the choreography. The audience loves their flawless moves and the crowd cheers as the performance unfolds. The couple has been known for their passionate performances, and Jason even earned a US Open Swing title and three World Cabaret titles.
Since the clip was posted, it has earned 12 million YouTube views!
Seems like the internet community agrees with us—the video gets better as time goes by.
Though it’s more than ten years old, it’s still one of the best dance videos we’ve seen. One thing is sure: it’s a good thing we have videos like this because it’s a way to remember and honor Jason’s talent and dedication. This couple’s dance moves will forever be inspiring, even if they don’t dance together anymore. Regardless, this video is a testament to their talent—and it’s a great way for new audiences to discover a love for honky-tonk dancing!
