Although living in a big city comes with plenty of exciting and beautiful sights, there are also plenty of things that make life harder.

For one thing, traffic is a lot more congested and the rent is a lot higher. For those who prefer a small-town vibe, cities can feel a lot more crowded and even a little bit dangerous in some cases.

Still, one of the saddest things that can happen in big cities is that people end up living in their own private worlds, ignoring the people around them.

And it never gets more glaring than when we see homeless people on the street.

Though it goes without saying, homelessness is a serious issue in many modern cities.

While it has plenty of effects and ramifications for everyone who lives there, nobody suffers worse than the actual people who have to live on the street.

Although there are always people who want to help out, it remains too big a problem for just one person to solve. Even so, extending a little kindness and letting people know we care about them is a good place to start.

And that’s what makes this video so moving.

The video was originally uploaded in July 2014.

As the clip begins, people are walking around a public square somewhere in Germany. A moment later, the camera centers in on a man sitting on the ground by himself.

Before long, three young men get close to him and crouch down as well. One of them asks if they can use the man’s bucket. At first, the man seems confused and wonders if it’s some kind of trick.

Even so, the men insist that they’re being serious and that they have something in mind.

After that, they all sit down around the man and start using his bucket as a drum.

First, the musician drums out an upbeat rhythm to get warmed up and to show the man what he can do. After that, the man says is playing isn’t half bad!

Next, another musician sits down beside them both with a guitar and starts strumming. This time, the drummer does a slower rhythm. Next, they’re singing—and another person sits down and starts singing as well.

Before long, they have a full song going—and a crowd gathers around them to watch.

The band plays for a few minutes before bringing everything to a close.

When the song is over, the crowd gathered around them gives a warm round of applause.

At that, the musicians thank the homeless man for letting them use his bucket and hand him hat back—and this time, their music playing has earned him more money! When it’s all over, the three musicians walk off down the street together.

Since the clip was posted online, it has been viewed nearly 30 million times—and it’s easy to see why it has become so popular.

Although it’s easy to get caught up in our own worlds in life and to ignore others, this video shares an important message.

Instead of avoiding life or the suffering of others, we ought to open ourselves up to it and help out in any way that we can.
