Ballerinas are always elegant, graceful and beautiful. They usually look like they’re floating on air.
As enjoyable as it is to see a ballet performance, we’ve needed this video to laugh a bit.
We’re used to ballet dancers being extraordinary, but we loved the way a girl made a joke to take the mickey out of her colleagues.
The results are pretty hysterical, and it’s clear the Viena State Opera dancers know how to take a joke.
The only difference from a standard ballet performance is that one ballerina comes to the stage with no regard for her walking posture.
Her shoulders are down, she’s looking at the floor and she’s acting as if someone forced her to participate.
You remember that feeling when you missed a day at school and the teacher asks you questions the very next day?
This is kind of the same, except that it probably must have been harder than doing it right. We’re so used to ballerinas on pointe, doing the perfect routine with their backs flat and elbows lifted. This is definitely not that!
It’s quite refreshing to see something like this.
Performers are only human, regardless of how perfect they look on screen or on stage. It’s good to be reminded that hundreds of hours of practice are behind these seemingly perfect shows.
First off, we have to mention just how excellent the piano player is.
He manages to follow through their routine and every time they miss a move, the pianist switches the tempo to make it less obvious. They’re doing it on purpose, and they’re great at it!
As the video begins, five ballerinas are in a position before the sixth one comes in.
She doesn’t know where to stand, her every move comes in late and her friends keep correcting her posture. We can’t imagine the amount of pressure she’s had to nail it wrong, because ballet dancers always have it in mind to do things correctly.
Even so, the girl manages to make all kinds of perfect mistakes, and you can hear the audience laughing in the background.
Everyone’s crazy about it—it’s new and different in a good way. We loved when she spun around and then finished the move by holding the wrong girl’s tutu!
All five of them are signaling her to move back, but she acts as if she doesn’t understand them.
We would love it if other performers made a comedy like this one!
Still, it’s the ending that will get you.
If the whole video passed by, and you didn’t laugh, the ending will do the job.
As they’re approaching the end of the choreography, the one that’s been making mistakes all along is confused where to stand, which way to turn and how to position her arms.
In all that confusion she falls over—and somehow gets the idea if she moves extremely slowly, no one will notice.
The way she tries to correct herself is the funniest part of the show.
The 26 million YouTube views and the full comments section speak for themselves!
You can feel the excitement in people’s comments—everyone wants to see unusual performances like this one more often. Imagine if this kind of thing became common in sports, show business or other events. For what it’s worth, it definitely works here!
