High school is a time of forging lasting friendships, honing talents, and creating unforgettable memories.
This was especially true for the high-kicking girls of Leander High School.
Their dance squad was more than just a team; it was a bond that brought them together, spending countless hours in each other’s company.
The Connally Stars, a dance team from the school, wowed everyone with a high-energy routine that was more invigorating than any cup of coffee.
Their performance, which has amassed over 3 million views, featured the girls marching in, decked out in white boots, green skirts, and eye-catching hats, ready to deliver an unforgettable show.
As the girls get ready, you can hear someone counting off.
They line up, striking a pose that spans almost the entire basketball court.
When the music starts, their heads lift, and they burst into a full-energy performance that captivates the audience.
The song they chose? “Cotton Eye Joe” by Rednex, a tune that’s as catchy as it is quirky.
According to Mental Floss, this song was a huge hit for Rednex, a group of Swedish techno musicians who reworked this old American folk song into a chart-topping novelty.
The girls, all in sync, decided this was the perfect track for their routine.
Their smiles are infectious as they execute high kicks, each leg reaching nearly shoulder height.
The balance and coordination displayed are nothing short of impressive.
Their performance is reminiscent of a lively country fair, with nonstop kicks moving from left to right, instantly lifting the spirits of everyone watching. It’s a display of pure joy and energy.
Viewers were so impressed by the girls’ routine, and they took to the comments to share their praise.
A viewer, Rico Ten, comments: “One of those high kicks and I’d be on my way to the Emergency Room, and these girls do it effortlessly–so much practice and hard work. Just fantastic.” It’s clear that these dancers have dedicated countless hours to perfecting their craft.
Another commenter added:
“So impressed by these girls, doing this in their free time in addition to schoolwork. I admire your dedication, discipline and skill!”
A third said:
“Awesome!!! When I was in my junior high, high school, and college drill teams we did kicks, formations, and splits. Jump splits were my favorite. I wish the schools would go back to that. Loved your uniforms also!!”
Their formations are quick yet fluid, and when they form a circle, arms linked and legs raised, the crowd erupts in cheers.
It’s a testament to their skill and the hard work they’ve put into this performance.
Throughout the routine, the girls are working so hard, but somehow they aren’t sweating or breathing hard.
It shows just how much they’ve practiced and skilled they truly are. What an incredible group of athletes.
