We all have times when we catch ourselves reminiscing about high school.
Still, sometimes there are moments that are definitely worth remembering because of how magical they were—and these high school girls are a great example of that.
As background, these ladies were chosen to perform a number at their school.
A few years ago, a bunch of teenage girls was chosen to give a performance during one of their events at Rosa Parks High School.
These girls’ names were Tiara Cordova, Kyesha Fuller, Rogett Gauntlett and Brianna Perez.
As the girls went to talk about what to perform during the event, they decided to make a cover of a classic song by the ’60s girl group The Marvelettes called “Mr. Postman.”
They had their hearts set on making their performance spectacular and so they began to practice.
Someone was able to see them practicing outside their school.
No one knew how many days of practice they were given except them and the organizer, and it just so happened that someone caught a glimpse of the girls rehearsing just outside the school grounds.
Perez, acting as the main vocalist from The Marvelettes, was standing alone in front whereas the other girls were carefully aligned on the back as her backup singers.
They started with a two-beat clap in unison and as Perez opened her mouth to sing the opening line, it was astonishing.
Their raw vocals seemed like they came from the studio.
Their performance was simply recorded by a camera phone, but the sound that came from the girls seemed to like it came from a recording studio.
You’ll be amazed by Perez’s neat riffs and runs as the main vocalist, but we could not just forget about Cordova, Fuller and Gauntlett who made the whole rehearsal a hundred times better with their harmonies. The backup girls complemented Perez’s vocals with their doo-wop vibe, along with their rhythmic claps and finger snaps. Who would have thought that a simple rehearsal would turn out to be this fantastic?
How about their actual performance?
People had been asking O’Neil if he managed to record the actual stage performance, and he did!
He shared the clip two days prior to the rehearsal clip. They were splendidly amazing there too! Watching the performance made it seem like they were big stars on stage.
The ambiance felt like a real Marvelettes concert—especially with the dancing added in!
The internet definitely did not get sick of hearing their performance over and over again!
After seeing it for yourself, we’re guessing that you’ll be just as hooked as we are.
O’Neil Thomas, who happened to take a recording of the girls’ rehearsal, shared the clip on YouTube in 2014.
The Rosa Parks High School girls instantly became a spectacle, and the clip has bewitched thousands of people who watched it. Even now, their clip still comes up on recommendations and has already earned over nine million views. Although the video was posted six years ago, people just can’t stop themselves from going back and re-watching it when they feel like it. We have to salute these four talented girls—they definitely have a future in music ahead of them!
