I can't begin to imagine the dedication it took to nail this routine down. That jump over was spot-on. 🤩

High school is an unforgettable time for many.

Between the formation of new friendships, the discovery and honing of natural talents, and the memories created, high school has a lot to offer.

While many students don’t think too fondly of school now, when they get a couple of decades out from graduation that will all change.

These dancers will never forget this routine.

These high-kicking girls are from Leander High School.

The Connally Stars dance team dazzled their school with a high-energy routine that worked so much better than a cup of joe.

With over 2.5 million views, the girls strut in a single line, white boots and green skirts with hats calling out to all the eyes inside that gymnasium that they were there for a great time.

“So impressed by these girls, doing this in their free time in addition to schoolwork. I admire your dedication, discipline and skill,” exclaimed one viewer.

There’s much to be impressed by.

Count the girls before they dance.

You can hear someone counting off as they assemble and march forward as dainty as can be.

They strike a pose sideways with their heads down, almost taking up the entire length of the basketball court.

Once the music hits, it’s chin up and full energy all the way.

These legs were made for stretching.

The song is “Cotton Eye Joe”.

It’s the rendition by the band Rednex. It is such a catchy song and according to Mental Floss,

“Cotton Eye Joe” was a massive hit for Rednex—a group of Swedish techno musicians playing dress-up in straw hats and dirty overalls. The bizarre, fiddle-fueled novelty was actually a reworking of an old American folk song, and thanks to its undeniable catchiness, it do-si-doed all the way to No. 25 on the Billboard Hot 100.”

It’s a good song to dance to.

Big smiles all around as they raise their right legs in the air nearly shoulder height to the one next to them.

And the balance. Not a single wobbly dancer in the bunch.

This is very country fair and that nonstop succession of kicks as they move from left to right and back will have anyone’s mood immediately lifted for sure.

To sum it up, they’re incredible.

Rico Ten commented,

“One of those high kicks and I’d be on my way to the Emergency Room, and these girls do it effortlessly–so much practice and hard work. Just fantastic.”

Imagine the intense stretching and practicing.

The formations are quick and smooth.

When they form a circle with arms on each others’ backs with a raised leg and bow, the crowd explodes with cheers for the dancers.

All the bouncing, kicking and leg twirling are done to the super up-tempo beat of the song and somehow, the girls aren’t sweating or gasping for air.

The final pose draws cheers and these girls just gave them a dance to remember.
