Canadian Ice Dancers Lily Hensen and Nathan Lickers may as well have wings of some sort judging by the way they so effortlessly glided around the ice in this rehearsal take.

There’s just something about pair skating that enthralls the viewer. It’s as if the whole world stops for a few minutes and the universe just allows you to get caught up in the beauty of the moment.

It’s truly a mesmerizing discipline.

The International Skating Union (ISU) defines pair skating as “the skating of two persons in unison who perform their movements in such harmony with each other as to give the impression of genuine Pair Skating as compared with independent Single Skating”.

So basically the idea is moving as one. To be so perfectly synchronized that it takes everyone’s breath away. By the looks of this rehearsal, Lily and Nathan are set to melt the ice.

Hensen and Lickers skate to the soundtrack of Ghost.

They want to be super ready for the Championnats Québécois d’été. The couple are coached by Scott Moir at the Ice Academy of Montreal – Ontario.

But it’s the choreography by Sheri Moir and Scott Moir that stays with you as these two display incredible control over their bodies. Skating isn’t easy. So imagine having to dance on ice.

A viewer named Beth Wade says,

“I didn’t know that this team was Canadian but watching them skate put me in mind of Tessa and Scott. Then I read that Scott is their coach. I am very impressed with them, if that’s not already obvious by their having brought Tessa and Scott to mind while skating.”

She’s referring to THAT Scott Moir and THE Tessa Virtue.

Moir and Virtue were so good. So good, that people began to take their admiration for the pair to a different level, suggesting that there was way more going on with the pair. Like romance and a baby.

It’s that kind of chemistry that sets apart a fantastic performance on ice from the really good ones.

Now Lily and Nathan are unbelievable to watch, but thank the person holding the camera who was tasked to keep up with the pair’s speed and agility. All we know is he’s named Jordan.

Talk about a fluid point of view!

Sue K loved it commenting,

“Really gorgeous program and choreography. I felt like I was skating along with them or maybe floating along like a ghost. 😅. As always thanks Jordan for sharing and thanks to Lily and Nathan for such lovely skating!”

It’s like they wanted their viewers to skate and dance with them.

The seamless transitions come from hours and hours of practice. It’s a passion they both share and that is evident with the stunning spins and many moves they’re rehearsing.

Just wait for the actual performance.

Hensen and Lickers are two names to watch out for. The future of pair skating looks promising. Let’s hope that they stay together on the ice for many years to come.
